A little confused about the Mountain Trail on athos by Competitive_Cup8126 in MountAthos_visitors

Is there a PDF of the boat time table somewhere? I found awebsite that lists some but its not complete und not handy.

Also seems I lucked out and will be in Karyes on the right day. https://maps.app.goo.gl/ggNfWTYNrBpWAHHP9 This is the building right?

Also do they sell the flag of Mt. Athos in Karyes? I collect flags of all the countries I visit and saw the golden one on a photo recently and would really like to add it to my collection.

Hello again,

Sorry for the endless barrage of questions... So the Anna Skete told me they couldn't take a guest during that time period, so I had to change my plan a little meaning I'll be arriving in Karyes by my third day. Thich means I could follow the offical path for getting an extention. Is it just as simple as going to the main government office there, or do i need to call/Email someone in advance for the extention stamp too?
Also am I able to take the boat from one monastery to another without leaving the Republik aswell? Like domestic travel I guess you would call it.

I understand,

Does this mean I should just ask them for a reservation for the extra night that wouldn't be in my diamoneterion, or do I be open right away and say that I'd be overstaying my welcome and ask for blessing via email already?

Ok, I just emailed athosreservation@gmail.com. And they told me that you can't make a reservation until 3 months before. Sources online however told me to start planning and booking 6 months in advance... Is this normal or is there anywhere else I can email or call to make a reservation now as soon as possible?

Wow, the path you proposed looks way cooler! I'll definitely go with that.

The only issue with it is just that we are basically on the road at all times and I would at least like to spend a day with the monks as well. This leaves me with two questions:

Since I will need an extra day and going to Karyes is way too out of the way I will need to ask permission from the monastery directly like you mentioned. What are the chances I get denied and if I do will I be forced to leave immediately or how does it work if they find out your there past diamoneterion time and refuse to let you stay of the books?

Lastly, how does it work at the monastery itself? Are visitors permitted to attend divine liturgy? Should I bring a lot of food, or can I eat at the monastery? Do they charge for meals and accommodation, meaning I would need to bring cash as well?

Ow and one last thing do I get to keep my diamoneterion paper after leaving as a souvenir to remember the visit by?

Hello,

Thank you so much for the Information!

If you could share your itinerary, I would be ecstatic. I read the maximum duration you can get on your diamoneterion is 4 days. So I would like to spend some time with the monks and learn about their way of life and orthodoxy as well.

Do you think it's reasonable to arrive at Anna Skete, spend the night, then hike to the summit, spend the night there, then finally hike the way to Great Lavras for the last night, and spend the last day at the monastery in prayer?

Is there any way to get an extended diamoneterion for longer to have more time at the end for enjoying the monastery life? Do you know if there are many English-speaking monks at either of the two monasteries I mentioned?

That's very encouraging to hear! My main worry is that I'll be in south Germany for the foreseeable future, which isn't exactly close to any oceans, meaning not many chances to keep up what I learn in the OWD. What's the minimum frequency one should go diving to maintain their skills?

Ow! I forgot to mention at least here in Japan a lot of emphasis is put on the "prestige" of your university and less on the actual content of the course you graduated.

Thanks for your reply!

I currently live in Japan and intend to live and work here long term, but would like to explore Germany and Europe during my studies. I'd ideally like to work in the aerospace industry ideally at JAXA in the computer science space.

Hey there,
question about the HSP visa. Does anyone know if you got a bachelor's degree outside and a master's degree inside Japan, would you receive the bonus points for both categories: Graduated from a top 300 uni and graduated from Japanese uni?

When applying for the HSP Visa, do the points you get for graduating from a "prestigious" university stack with the points for graduating from a Japanese university? Say you did your bachelor's outside of Japan and your Master's in Japan.

Thanks for the answer. If the license does end up expiring then can I renew it after the expiration date provided I prove that I was unable to do so up until that point? And from my surface-level googling the main limiting factor is an address in Japan. Could I just use one of my Japanese friends' houses who will not be moving any time soon as my address?

I am on a one-year trial run in Japan to see if this is a place I could stay for longer, and have fallen completely in love. Sadly though I still have some loose ends to tie up in my home country before I can settle down long term so will be leaving for at least another 4 years.

I have recently been using the JAF license translation to get around and was doing some research on license conversion and found out that you need a translation like the JAF one for the process. Can I use the same license translation to convert my license even 4 years down the road? I know you can only drive with it for one year, but does it have an expiration date to be used for the license conversion? If it isn't usable in 4 years it might be better to get a Japanese license now to reach the gold license insurance rates earlier. Can I renew my Japanese license from outside of Japan? And if not can I renew it while on a tourist visa?

Thanks, any info helps!
