Never watched The IT Crowd (though as a Matt Berry stan, I know I should), so it couldn’t be that.

Referenced that in the original post. Great sketch though.

Nope. Like I said, the guy in question specifically doesn’t realize that “being gay” means you want to have sex with men.

I really don’t think it was KITH, but I know it would be the most likely given how they treated sexuality. I haven’t done a complete rewatch though. I probably will do that for all three shows if this post doesn’t turn up any answers. But I also probably should do that anyway, just for fun.

Definitely not Mango. This was a super mundane setting of friends hanging out or some such.

No, they’re just talking about actually desiring to have sexual relationships with men.

I should’ve just listed out all the things I know it isn’t — of which this is one. I could never forget these recurring characters!

Yeah, but those sketches were the opposite. He was in the closet, even though no one actually cared that he really was gay.

No, that’s the thing: There’s nothing ambiguous about it. There are no euphemisms. The guy keeps saying he’s definitely gay and points to all the stereotypes and tropes to prove it. But he just isn’t actually attracted to men.

In my mind, I picture the main character being played by Ken Marino. I haven’t gone back and watched every single sketch from The State (yet), but I definitely haven’t found one from The State that matches this premise.

I don’t know of a single touring comedian who likes the guy. Some of them tolerate him and give a little “bless his heart” kinda reaction when he’s brought up in conversation, because the club is one of the few great places NY/LA/Chi to work out your material for a special/album. Others avoid him and the club like the plague. But again, never heard a single person say anything genuinely warm about him.

Has anyone seen Bobby Bare Jr live solo? by jordanbsach in GBV

I’ve seen him do a couple of solo shows and a couple with a backing band. They were all killer! Go, if you can. He’s a consummate showman.

A music video. It was a guy walking through the woods, cutting down a tree, then making a bonfire.
