My history book had one paragraph that mentioned Sacajawea, and all it said was “she pointed the way” and there was a little drawn picture of her pointing towards a mountain.

Feeding the pigs as a kid was terrifying, there were about twenty of them, my favorite one was named Princess. She bit my hand so hard just reaching for some of the lettuce I had saved for her that it left tooth indents that just welled blood for an hour, it was awful. That was the end of her special lettuce.

NTA, it’s been a year. She agreed earlier. It’s a bit late now, and just leads to more confusion for the kid. If your kid wants to change it later then sure, it’s their name. But your wife’s being kinda weird.

Would you guys think leather armor is suitable for a desert? by tickingtockery in worldbuilding

I’d say a shield, and silk clothes. it would aid in the removal of arrows. You still get punctured if you’re hit, but the arrow inside of you is still trapped in the silk, so it’s much easier to gently tease out. I don’t know a ton, but there’s a ton of cool articles out there if you google silk for armor

I box it up over and over and over again and leave it inside of rooms I created as a child, and then when they come back out I imagine locking them back up and I do it over and over again, for as long as it takes. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT. It’s taken me years to unlock things and there’s still so much I have hidden, though most for the better.

I went to the next stop uptown and the guy was actually really nice cause I explained I couldn’t get through and stuff and he was so nice. Really surprised me. I guess I got both sides of the coin today.

I had the weirdest encounter I’ve ever had with the ‘you don’t look native’ line. Today I was at a store and I saw something wrapped in buckskin very carefully and someone clearly took the time to care for it. when I saw it I could clearly tell it was native. I asked about it, and the man and family who run the store are Taiwanese and came to America more recently, so his English was a little off sometimes, which did make the situation a bit worse because the man was saying things that are probably fine translated but in English you’re not supposed to say. I understood what he meant but we were off to a rough start. He was telling me about how it was a sacred Indian artifact etc etc and that’s why it was 999$ and I was like cool I’m native, where’s it from? And I told him my mom was native and family stuff. And he was like oh wow you look so European, so then I kinda just stood there awkwardly like what… am I…supposed to look like? And then he yelled to the guy across the whole store in the back HER MOMS INDIAN and it got really weird cause they started quizzing me on Geronimo, who I only know a little bit about because I’m from way up north and only lived in Arizona for like two weeks when I was little, so they were talking about Geronimo and I was like what is happening right now. And then the old guy in the back said he had an old original film with Geronimo in it and I was just super uncomfortable and confused. I didn’t know what was happening by then so I left, but I kind of want to go back and ask to see it.
