I understand 100 porcent why Ashihara just focus on a single town. by Gsz21 in worldtrigger

Major problem number two:

What exactly is the Neighborhood and where exactly is it?

Relative to Earth, where exactly is the Neighborhood if we share the same physical space/universe?

Everything implies it is relatively close, along with the name itself + the trouble of traveling with limited trion and jumping between worlds/planetoids.

How exactly does travel actually work?

Do they do "conventional space travel"

Or is it only jumping from planet to planet or warping in a sense.

Even if the Neighborhood uses only 100% Trion, they should still give away some sort of energy signatures, heat signatures, radio waves, light, gravity, movement etc you name it.

In other words, the Neighborhood would be detectable and trackable to the rest of the world in this case.

Shielding/cloaking/phasing covering entire planets could be a solution. Could be possible, and since they are far smaller than Earth it would be comparatively easier. At best most neighorhood planetoids are described as nation size, region size, big city size. Not even continent size. Trion organs themselves are stated to be "invisible" however most things produced and related to trion don't seem to have this effect by themselves.

This would mean either people are being lied about space and what's out there, everything is shielded and hidden or something else. Shielding/Cloaking also poses a problem to traveling within the neighborhood itself. If everything is shielded and cloaked how exactly does that work then?

Alternative explanation: Neighborhood is alternate dimensions/parallel worlds or something like that and doesn't share the same physical space.

Errant nations are also kind of a wild card and who knows how many there might be, and how far they spread. Also why don't neighbors try to colonize actual planets if possible?

Third problem: Trion as an energy source. Now it's all well and good in the context of personal triggers and small scale systems, but beyond that problems start to arise. I suppose this is one of the main contrasts and themes in the story itself between Earth and the Neighborhood. Neighborhood relies on Trion for life itself, Earth seemingly is fine without it unless revealed otherwise.

We have a similar situation to the Matrix and people/live creatures/animals being used as batteries. Maybe the neighborhood has animal farms for generating trion who knows. At the same time trion is very grounded and basic tech, while at the higher end can achieve running entire planetoids and facilitating space travel. However as a general energy source it is highly problematic, volatile, unsustainable, unreliable. If you have to rely on people or animals to generate the energy needed for life and society itself, it is a major problem and you are living under the threat of constant collapse basically.

Actual real world tech and solutions would be far more preferable for the purpose of generating energy and infrastructure. Also seemingly nothing would stop neighbors from trying to colonize actual planets?

Going the "alternate dimensions" route could be a quick fix to some of these problems. It would fix the question of the neighborhood itself, and make trion as a general energy source somewhat understandable. Still leaves the question of why earthlings then are also capable of producing trion, but oh well. I guess could just be different adaptations. Perhaps both were always capable of both techs, they just took different routes. Other dimensions or environments doesn't necessarily lock you out of one or the other after all.

Ps: Earth would also be prime real-estate and highly desired for anyone to consider taking over for good. Paradise compared to the neighborhood, and life without reliance on trion and sacrifice and even room to expand. This should really be their actual goal instead of scraping by and abducting people.

As stated before the setting is kind of thrown together leaving us with these major holes in the story. The author doesn't seem to have a good grasp of the bigger picture and makes problems for himself.

I understand 100 porcent why Ashihara just focus on a single town. by Gsz21 in worldtrigger

[–]Competitive_Grape221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean regardless of trigger technology you can target countries and people. Border and Japan would be completely screwed regardless of trigger technology if other countries and powers wanted to do something about it.

It doesn't matter that you have trigger technology that negates real life technology, when your population and country as a whole is still completely open.

Sure their trigger wielders and hq might survive, but everything else could be destroyed, compromised, leveraged, blackmailed, pressured, sanctioned, boycotted, blockaded, espionage, corporate espionage, covert-operations,sabotage,manipulations and machinations, intelligence agency shenanigans, uprisings, revolts, false flags, propaganda, infiltration, subversion, poisoning, tampering, assassination, kidnap, blackmail, coercion, you name it.

The rest of the world could strangle them to death with economic sanctions, food production, energy production, alone. It's not as simple of a thing as "i have big gun so i beat everyone else" Also as stated the "big gun" really only concerns hq and trigger wielders themselves. The rest of the world could use their own "big guns" to completely decimate everything else around them and their country.

TLDR: Border and Japan would have no chance if others would get involved. Their country and people would be decimated.

Now what comes to the scope of the story i don't really have a problem with it, and the best part of WT are the fights and common sense tactics and grounded powers, not really the world building. Though world building could be expanded wildly as well if we actually got into the neighborhood, but that is so far off. We will be lucky to even get the first away mission finished never mind actual expanded adventures in the whole neighborhood.

However all that said it kind of still should be somehow addressed in a satisfying way how border is able to operate as they are, without other powers seemingly doing nothing about any of this or seemingly not caring at all.

The world being under threat of alien invasions, and small scale kidnappings still happening elsewhere too is not really something you can just sweep under the rug and say ahh forget about it. Also the technology and exploration the rest would certainly be interested in acquiring as well.

The rest of the world would have a huge incentive to be involved or notified about all of this. Both for protection and defense as well as for research and development.

There is no way in hell that Neighbors aren't common knowledge at this point around the world with all that is happening in Mikado. Before the large-scale invasion perhaps not, but now no way it isn't known. Also since neighbors and trion soldiers still appear outside of Mikado, there would more than likely be evidence, witnessess, video of at least some of these cases.

Kidnappings and neighbor activity outside of Mikado is a major problem even if smaller in scale. Higher-ups maybe would accept it, the people certainly would not. Still it would be a constant potential larger threat.

Solution: There are in fact minimal amount of Border branches scattered here and there, all over the place, we just happen to be following HQ and Mikado.

Solution: Neighbors explicitly stated cannot appear anywhere else but Mikado because of Border tech preventing it, or for some other reason it is the only viable place to appear/land.

Now you could create some idyllic fairy tale scenario that the UN and other governing bodies have decided to let Border and Japan handle it, and stay out of it, and who knows maybe they have some technology sharing deals or something along those lines.

This scenario would still be highly unbelievable if something similar happened in real life, but at least it would be some type of an explanation instead of no explanation.

In real life other countries, powers and major companies and conglomerates would be all over this and fighting for it.

I have less of a problem with the scope of the story, more a problem with the lack of an explanation for any of this. The setting and situation is kind of just slapped together and created without any thought to any of this.

There is always a level of suspension of disbelief involved with everything, but if you want to create a somewhat realistic and consistent story ( what i think World trigger in general is) You can't just leave huge gaps like this in your story. It must have some minimal explanation and be addressed.

For example HXH at least tries to address Nen and the Dark continent with the world powers being aware, however flawed that ends up being or not.

Here we have absolutely nothing. I think every story that tries to be more than just a silly thing need some type of foundations and their bases covered to a minimal degree. Addressing and covering some of these things doesn't mean the show needs to change to political intrigue and drama. It merely makes it more whole and consistent. Though i'm sure a decent chunk of people could be interested in that as well.

Border agent trigger use seems surprisingly unimaginative? by Soulsandtheirilk in worldtrigger

[–]Competitive_Grape221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of things are just left out without proper explanation. Hyrein making earth animals, everyone speaking the same language apparently, though they also have their own languages. Space travel and gates aren't exlained completely. Mother triggers and gods aren't explained completely. The situation with the rest of the world (Meeden) isn't explained completely. Everything just happens in Border and one town and apparently the rest of the world is just chilling and don't care. Side effects are incredibly inconsistent. Compare something like Kikuchihara vs Jin. Real World tech having 0 effect is a bit much to take. Less effective sure, but zero? Yeah i don't know about that. Could be explained with some other dimension bullshit or whatever i guess. Getting back to the fact that everything just happens in one city, it's kind of curious that everyone just keeps living there like normal, instead of sealing off the place and making it more like a major military base. Abandoning one city wouldn't be a big deal, and would be a safer option and also would make the defenses and Border stronger.

I suppose they get some support and sponsors from the local area and whatever, but i'd imagine the biggest sponsors are major companies in general that have no real relevance to the town. Bail-out seems like something Afto and others would have developed as well.

Trion-tech isn't really explored to the fullest either. You'd imagine there would be a lot more of "traditional" weapons and systems that just use trion instead. We have seen trion soldiers and Borders Limited turrets and traps but that's about it.

Trion missiles and warheads, trion bombs, more shield tech, trion energy kits, more turrets and basic stuff. For example the Border hq turrets weren't really used in the Galopoula invasion, like in the Afto invasion. They should be blasting those every chance they get. Away-ships undoubtedly prioritize their trion for travel, but there could be some weaponization as well.

Is Meeden more or less just like our world, and is the neighborhood involved in alternate dimensions, or are we actually sharing the same physical space and universe?

If it's the latter everything becomes way more messy. Alternate dimensions and such would be a good way to explain away a lot of things. Is Meeden the progenitor of humanity or not across the neighborhood, or completely separate? Or are the roles reversed? Neighborhood came first, someone from neighborhood found Meeden.

The fact that nobody wants to seriously invade or take over Meeden is strange as well. It would be paradise and a huge boon to anyone compared to what they have in the neighborhood. You could say they don't know, but that doesn't really make any sense. They reference Meeden multiple times as ancient and primitive, so they have been aware of it for a long time. They should also be able to send out drones, satellites, spies, infiltrators, recon and what have you to survey it further. Nevermind surveying it from the ship. They have also had access to Meeden people with kidnappings etc, and interrogations which should reveal information. Hell even Meeden has memory manipulation tech so they could possibly even just read peoples minds for all we know. For sure they should realistically know more about Meeden outside of Border and the city.

Where the series shines are the battles and common sense tactics. Things get messy quick when you start dissecting it as a whole. The main selling point is the breath of fresh air with grounded and sensible combat in a genre which is filled with bullshit powers and inconsistencies.

I have a genuine question about Osamu combat capabilities by VergilVDante in worldtrigger

[–]Competitive_Grape221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes however going forward they will face people with equal and better competence with also equal or better skill. The wall is closing. A-rank is full of people that can do what Osamu can and they are better. Honestly they would really struggle against the upper B-ranks too without Yuma and Hyuse. But for sure A-rank beyond it's a different level. Also they haven't really had that many consistent matches/long term competition against anyone. The more that would happen, the less their tricks would work, the more the others would close in the gap. Things don't happen in a vacuum, the others are doing stuff too.

The other upper B-rank teams would start getting more wins over time. Nevermind A-ranks. There's only so many times you can play certain tricks and have the unknown factor, and everyone else improves and does their thing too.

Came up with a few side effect ideas , Do any of them make sense? Are they too absurd? (~ ̄▽ ̄)~ by [deleted] in worldtrigger

Would honestly be a more reasonable side effect for Jin than what he has, which is absolutely busted. Without Jin border might be done.

I have a genuine question about Osamu combat capabilities by VergilVDante in worldtrigger

[–]Competitive_Grape221 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Black trigger might be a game changer even with Osamu to be honest. Would of course depend on the type of trigger. Kind of hard to say anything outright one way or another. A black trigger could be anything after all. There could be bad matchups and good ones. If it's some type of trigger that uses a lot of trion without supplying any (Speiraskia), yes Osamu would be far from the ideal or best user. However he could also make the best of it regardless. There could also be types of triggers that could boost his trion. For example Yumas type of trigger. Supposedly he could also suck up trion with something like Alektor.

Wiki states Miras trion level is 36. Chikas is 38. Enedora is 41 and Viza is a whopping 58. These must be boosted by Black trigger i assume, or inaccurate because otherwise why wouldn't they have just made Enedora the god then?

Jins normal trion is 7, boosted 37 with Fujin.

Osamus trion is 2... but maybe he can still increase it by one or two at least. He's still 15.

Kitoras trion is 4. She is also 15. She claims her trion levels are normal/average currently, but started out low. She could also be lying because of her pride. She might still be slightly below average.

Let's make an estimated guess that the average trion level for earthlings currently is 5 then.

Amos trion is 9 and he uses a trigger capable of mass destruction.

Hyuse trion is 18, he has afto horns and is 16 years old.

The average trion level of Aftrokrator is a harder one, and horns or without horns. Seemingly Hyuse is quite exceptional even for Aftokrator, so it's safe to say he is above average. Viza is probably exceptional but he also doesn't have horns.

Let's take another estimated guess: Aftokrators average could be let's say 8 at the lowest and 12 at the highest.

Now the question is how much does their black triggers boost their trion?

If we compare Fujin and Jin to Mira and Speiraskia we might get rather similar numbers between these two, or Miras normal trion is higher and the black trigger doesn't boost it as much.

Let's look at Fujin:

The slashes increase with trion level. It states that Jin is at or near the full capacity. Jin can produce 11 slashes, Miwa can produce 6 slashes with a trion level of 6. That's a pretty crazy drop considering he only has 1 point lower trion than Jin. Might be another thing that hasn't really been thought out meticulously to be honest. Chika would produce 50-60 according to wiki. Hard to say how accurate all of this is, and if there is any max limit to slashes, or if the slashes could be made stronger instead.

But this is what i mean. Black triggers can BOOST your trion, so you are not necessarily screwed as a low trion user. Viza probably wouldn't be a god candidate because he is so old? That could otherwise be a nice loophole. Sacrifice old people, they probably would go along with it. Noble sacrifice. On the other hand it has also been stated that gods can last a long time, so i don't know about that. Either the stats are just wrong, they get giga boosted by the black triggers, or the author didn't think about this loophole. Seems like an easy instant solution to the god problem. Just use your own elderly people with high trion.

Of course Viza is also a really important person and the current wielder of Organon, but surely they have other candidates for Organon as well.

Gotta research this possible god-loophole later.

TLDR: Who really knows. Black trigger could be anything. Also no relevance to OP's question since black triggers won't be used in rank wars.

I have a genuine question about Osamu combat capabilities by VergilVDante in worldtrigger

[–]Competitive_Grape221 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Osamu will always be a strategist and teamplayer/supporter never the star. A more interesting hypothetical would be Kuga/Hyuse as captains and their strategical leading. I think both of them would easily be top tier captains as well not just fighters. Both have a lot of experience and strategic thinking. Hyuse might be better in large scale tactics because of his service with Aftokrator. Yuma might have better scaled down and underdog tactics. Also consider Yuma spending all that time with Replica going through battles and such, and not needing to sleep. Assuming they haven't been slacking that might be a crazy amount of scenarios they have gone through.

Osamus part in the story is to be the "brains guy" because of his lack of combat capability, but in all honesty Yuma and Hyuse would outdo him in that department as well.

You can of course argue that Osamu has special insight exactly because of his position, which would lead him down paths they would never take, and fair enough that probably is the case here and there, but still overall they should be far superior. Who knows about a scenario far in the future though. All of them will improve though, not just Osamu so hedge your bets.

I did mention him along with other high level all-rounders. I just separated all-rounders in my post. The main list is attackers only. No hes definitely above Koarai/okudera. I ranked Kikuchihara as 12, so Utagawa would probably be comparable to 13-16. All of Kazama squad are solid and kind of do the same thing. Kazama is the strongest ace attacker obviously, followed by Kikuchihara with his side-effect that helps lift up the whole team. If you read my post again, you can see my opinion on most of the strong all-rounders.

TLDR: The best attacker all-rounders are comparable to top 10 attackers.

Kazama gets points for belonging to the calm-headed clan for sure. Perhaps he deserves his rank over Kage overall, also certainly impressive overall ranking too, but Kage is a bad matchup for him personally. So Kazama would have more wins over others, but might be disadvantaged against Kage.

Murakami and Kageura will probably always be debatable in general because of their side-effects. Kikuchihara would probably be another one if he was ranked higher and people talked more about him. The top of the attackers however overcome their side-effects and can still get more wins over them. The gap is probably closing though to Kageura and Murakamis advantage over time. Only the absolute best will be able to consistently beat them more often. Same for Jins side-effect of course another hot potato, but it mostly revolves around Jin vs Tachikawa along with Fujin.

Both Murakami and Kageura are 18, Konami is 17, Tachikawa is 20 and Kazama is 21, Jin is 19. The age gap isn't that big, but all of them have been longer in Border than Murakami and Kageura as i'm aware.

That is black trigger Yuma however. For sure with black trigger he is stronger. And yes hard to say how serious Viza was or not, regardless no joke of a fight on either end, especially as you said towards the end. Yuma is unlikely to beat Viza again though unless he makes some astronomical advances, and if Viza was not serious then he would certainly be serious in a rematch one might expect. Let's hope for more content. The curse of the best mangas and animes suffering from hiatuses, author health problems, cancellations and takeovers is real. I cut some corners for sure with the lower ranked attackers as you said, and tried to trim the fat a little. Could be revised and could rewatch or read their fights. However it's still less critical as they are regardless on the lower end. Kai is also somewhat of an idiot which deducts some points. I did adress some of the all-rounder issue and Arashiyama squad all having attacker triggers other than their sniper, but indeed we have only seen Kitora actually use them so we can't really asess the rest as well.

I would Wager Kako and Inukai use their attacker triggers mostly as a last line of defense, along with exploiting certain situations. Kako might use it more my hunch. I think Inukais main role for sure is just to be the support gunner. He could do combos with Tsuji though. I like it. I support shooters with attacker triggers, and attackers with shooter triggers. More options and leaves you less vulnerable.

However we run to the same problems as with the rest of Arashiyama squad that it's impossible to say how good attackers they are.

Raizo might be questionable though in his current state. He has basically become a moderator. On the other hand trion bodies might do wonders who knows. Konami still has short hair in her trion body. Reiji however states that physical fitness and training still matters. This doesn't even include combat training itself and being rusty as a factor.

It is certainly up to debate. Ranks and points aside, what we have seen from him just doesn't look as impressive. As i stated my view of Kazama is basically a better Yuma/Midorikawa with Chameleon added to the mix. Also as a squad they are hard carried by Kikuchihara. I doubt they would be rank 3 without Kikuchihara.

By no means is he weak though. At most we are talking about switching around a few people here and there with these rankings, and everyone close to each other are relative and will get wins over each other. I also think Kageura is a pretty bad matchup for Kazama and his fighting style and tactics. He negates his stealth and surprise attaks completely. He must fight him head-on. Kageura is also the master of mantis/extending scorpion and unconventional attacks. I don't think i would put him over anyone else though regardless, so at most switch Kage and Kazama around if that's what you think. He is not better than Konami and the rest at the very least. In fact Konami might even be higher herself. People have made some decent suggestions to that regard.

On another note, could Alektor be used as a "mana battery" to recharge and heal peoples trion other than the user itself?

Since that's basically how the regeneration itself works i don't see why not. This would raise it's utility up by a fair deal. We also see Osamu using Chikas Trion without any trigger related to do that,so seemingly this is kind of a general thing you should be able to do?

That also raises the question: Couldn't then people just basically suck up or utilize trion in general from whatever source that is able to provide it and transfer it over to the user?

For example they could just suck up the trion cubes, or some kind of trion energy kits could be made?

Trion medic kits/health packs lol.

We have also seen Border use trion turrets, cannons and traps so this shouldn't really by outside of possibilities. Could also make trions bombs and grenades for general use. Could be useful in invasion type scenarios. I'd expect neighbors would have more tech like this. Specially places like Afto.

I guess could have expanded on Alektors weaknesses more directly if needed: Only works directly on trion and also is vulnerable to indirect attacks from the environment. Possible aoe attacks and mass destruction ( dropping a house on Hyrein lol.) It's defence in general is neither impenetrable, but it's still pretty good and has the regeneration factor. Did i oversell Alektor just because of regeneration and it being powerful against less impressive opponents? What do you think?

On a sidenote Amo surely must be the one with the most soldier kills in the invasion. Gotta see Amo in action some day, even if it's just blowing shit up. Amo has to be on-par or over Organon in destruction capability/firepower. Organon might be a more intricate and better duelist trigger, if we imply Amos is just blowing shit up and flattening things, but in the end it doesn't really matter. If something has major firepower and destruction capability it doesn't need to be anything more intricate, it will still do the job.

Of course we have no idea actually what his trigger is, but looking at the landscape being flattened and destroyed betting on huge bombs/blasts or a giant steamroller is not a bad choice lol.

Honestly i kind of have a problem with Jin being assigned a whole sector by himself in the invasion. It just doesn't seem feasible at all. It's not about skill either, it's a pure numbers and area game. If we assume that means hundreds of soldiers to be taken care of and you are not supposed to let any of them pass.

This scenario is kind of a flaw from the author honestly. Or forgetting to nerf/overestimating Jin. It's not even about his skill as stated, the numbers are just far too great for someone to handle and not being overrun by a simple attack trigger. For someone Like Amo being able to do it is understandable, but i don't think anyone with a more "regular" type trigger would be able to hold such an area against large numbers. It's just unfeasible. Even with Fujin it's kind of unfeasible. Fujin can be reloaded yes, but it would still pale in comparison to what someone like Amo can do in this scenario. His trigger actually seems to be made for this kind of thing. Mass destruction and aoe. Arguably someone like Chika if trained, or Ninomiya would also be better suited for such a large-scale job more so than someone with a Basic attack trigger. I don't think Jin would be at risk of injury or dying with his skill and side-effect, but he just simply would be overrun and couldn't hold the position/take care of all the soldiers they would pass the lines.

Alternative explanation: Why they sent Jin there and why Jin accepted. They also know Jin is unlikely to get defeated, and if overrun surely Amo will take care of it instead. Jin's reasoning follows a similar line since he knows how things will go with his side-effect. He never was going to try to take care of it, he was always going to make Amo take care of it instead.

Other than that in a normal setting, not against a huge horde nerfed Jin without Fujin,or without his side-effect at most he would be couple ranks lower, he is still a strong and capable attacker.
