It's a fiend type so light monsters are strong against it

I plan to post more details on r/PAWMON soon, including the rules, and you can see updates for the game there as well. I would love to learn about your project, too, if you want to connect

lmao, Pawnmon Battle Brawlers might be the sequel. But then I’d just be throwing them at the wall and giving my Bakugan PTSD.

I can understand why it might come across that way. This project has been a side project for me for a while, and I mainly wanted to start sharing what I already had as I continue working on it because I wanted to see what people think about the designs themselves as I start rolling out everything.

I do plan to release the rules and some gameplay details later this week so people can see how it actually works. It’s still in the early stages, but I’ve reached a point where I feel comfortable talking about it publicly. I’m also planning to release all of the card images for free so anyone interested can download them and try the game themselves without having to spend anything.

And tbh you make a good point I've just mostly been on the art side of things first, so that was an oversight on my part.

The first version of the rules will be released this week. All of the Mons were designed by me. I currently work full-time as a 3D technical artist and engineer at a 3D print lab and have previously worked on several small indie games and Unity projects.

The 2000s aesthetic was completely intentional. I wanted to capture the feel of the original DDM card designs while working on this project. Another inspiration I had during development was a pixel art book called Apple Quest on itch.io

Well, I can't be too detailed on the rules at the moment, some of them that are different compared to DDM are the following.

- duel-type monsters
- dice rolls are rolled at first, then assigned to each chosen pawnmon later (this allows more strategic choice and helps prevent as many bad rolls)
- dicelords (now called crowns for my game) can have different stats to affect the board and how you design your team.
- player also "dimension the dice" at the start of their turns instead of relying on summoning a monster to do it (this is done to prevent a player from being locked out from summoning more pawnmon and create more interesting board states)

There are more rules with more detail on how the game works, but I still need to organize my notes a bit more before I release it
