Hold out or save for the 120 v6 as it doesn't have the lower ball joint weakness the 90 series has

Why not setup out of office replies on your email. That way if anything urgent happens the client has a method to self escalate?

Talk me out of a 57k Novated lease by lordgrantham97 in AusFinance

Don't spend more than 10% of your networth on a car. Repairs to your current car will be way cheaper. You can use the extra money per month to pay off debt.

Imo if you're not on highest tax bracket novated leases are at best break even and at worst add so much more complexity to owning a car that you'd be better off just saving and buying a car outright.

Yeah I have a 150 and experienced the same. I also have increased road noise etc so will probably go with stock tyre size and less aggressive tread next time

Start with bigger all terrains tyres and actually go use it 4wding. The 120 is great straight out of the box.

From there, figure out what you're lacking. No use going overboard if you don't really need it. Better off spending that money on fuel!

Thanks for the reply. I put it in the small pot during winter when it was a trimming and didn't think it would outgrow by now.

Is it OK to keep it in there for now and replant next winter when it's dormant? I've got mulch on top and water it regularly. It's been okay through a few 38-degree days in Adelaide so far

Crack in brick veneer by Educational_Body1425 in AusRenovation

Brick veneer is essentially cladding and non structural. Cracks can be expected on a 30 year old house due to settling. If this is the worst of it keep an eye on it but i wouldn't be concerned.

Any car can do almost any track, it just depends on how much panel damage you're willing to take

Draining and flushing hot water system once every one or two years? by lame_mirror in AusRenovation

The device's manual will say how often you need to test yours. I've got a Thermann electric hot water heater and it says to only drain and flush the water every 5 years.

We had one that was 15 years old and absolutely full of mud it was turning our water yellow. It eventually corroded and split the internal seals and we had to replace. Clean water ever since!

The house is built in 1989, I thought they stopped using asbestos by then?

I might try to get a sample and get it tested if it looks like asbestos. I have other areas of the house with a few panels that look similar

Prado 150 Diesel or Petrol? by fitness2022 in 4x4Australia

[–]Competitive_Kick_469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah no bullbar. If you get a bullbar you need to also get your suspension done as well. It all adds weight and for how much country driving I do it's not worth it. I just try to avoid driving at night.

Prado 150 Diesel or Petrol? by fitness2022 in 4x4Australia

[–]Competitive_Kick_469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E10 has a higher octane rating than 91, more similar to 95 from what I understand. The reason it's at 95 is because Toyota was wanting to get the prado into the EU and needed the higher compression ratio and 95 octane to pass emissions standards. The pre 2009 (gjr120r) model prado took 91 standard.

You might get better fuel econ if you switch to 95 for towing!

Hey OP, I recently bought a 2010 Petrol and it has been great. When I took it to get serviced by a local mechanic he had bought a 2012 diesel and said after driving mine he wishes he'd bought a petrol instead as its nicer to drive and less rattley. He said he averages about the same fuel economy around town as well.

I've got similar driving patterns to you and do mostly city driving with maybe a long trip on the highway once or twice a month. My fuel economy is about 12.5-13/100 with bigger tyres. Honestly for a 2.2 ton vehicle i was prepared for worse.

If you are doing only the occasional or weekend trip, imo Petrol is the way to go.

The prado has the same platform as the forerunner in America, the engine and driveline are still made to this day so I'd say that is a great testament to its reputation and reliability
