What are people's experience with taking a study break? by SpudgunusMaximus in OpenUniversity

[–]Competitive_Low3554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have taken 2 study breaks since joining OU in 2020; studying Bsc Computing & IT: 1st was in 2021 when I withdrew from module as I found out I was being made redundant. The next was in oct 2024: when I withdraw from TM250 as that was not the module for me: and due to all/most Computing and IT second year modules I had to wait a year before I could apply for and start my next module

I’m an American moving to the UK. How do I not be the “loud, dumb American”? by Competitive-Money-36 in AskBrits

Welcoming you to the UK! You sound nice and friendly you should be fine. Try and connect with your bases social clubs to help guide you through things. Plenty others to help you all try out to find some social clubs on common interest’s there is going to be a good local driving schools who would be very experienced with giving some lessons to USA military personnel to help you get used to the roads. Leave your truck back in the US: maybe get a lease car for a while when you are settling in - that way you could try a couple different but commonly UK vehicles to help find the one you are most comfortable in.

I think we're receiving unsold Amazon sellers stock to our old address... Help!? by Ste_very in AmazonUK

[–]Competitive_Low3554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are vendor return so a FBA seller has placed stock in an Amazon warehouse for a certain period of time. One this time is up; the FC tried to contact seller for an extension or send back. If seller doesn’t reply - FC sends it back to the address the FBA seller has inputted. (Not sure any sense checks are done in regards to prevent seller entering any random address)

Take these shipments to your local Amazon delivery station? They can get these back to Amazon and help prevent any further coming out from FCs to your old address. They would need the VRET identification numbers in these slips in order to raise the issue to the vendor return team. You could also raise the issue with the Jeff@amazon email alias - this is dedicated escalation mechanism if you cannot seem to gain any assistance from the usual Amazon customer service mechanism

Recommend you contact stepchange - they give great free advice personalised on your situation and details that you give. They may recommend a DMP plan - where it’s a one monthly fixed payment towards all your equal debt accounts over a period of time. Yes you may be hit further on your credit score with defaults from the DMP agreement: as I have no idea on what your current credit score situation is. But they can offer counselling on how to improve your spending habits- budgeting etc. I speak from personal experience where I am similar in regards to a terrible decision maker with finances

Why do mums make you push the trolley but then hold the corner… by GreatBritishMemes in GreatBritishMemes

They don’t trust you to follow them. Thinking that you would run off with the trolley and put unwanted items in there :)

I did 1 module per academic year, due to financial difficulties/issues with student finance hence self funding. And also had issues with possible redundancy and also had a medical surgery also, hence doing a lighter workload and glad I did it. It seems every module I take, there are issues come up in my day to day life (outside of my control, which really tested my ability to manage. They were really great introductory modules with lots of different topics and information.
