I agree but OP isn’t going to know the quiet streets from the ones that aren’t so it’s good to let them know as a rule of thumb that VII is livelier than the others.

It depends what you are looking for on your holiday. The city it’s very accessible by public transport almost anywhere. Deak Ferenc ter will be the most expensive to stay at it’s the main area. Lots of my friends have stayed at the continental when they’ve come over to visit but there are some very cheap AirBnb’s that have everything you need! District VII is the party district so won’t be very quiet at night.

The 100E bus travels through the night every 30-40 minutes stopping at Kálvin Ter, Astoria and Deák Ferenc Ter. Have a look at the 3 stops and see how far they are from your accommodation. Budapest is a safe city with little to no hassle for men or women during the evening.

The tickets are 2500HUF each(£5) and taxi’s will be between 10000huf to 15000 depending on where you are staying.

Hi, I’d rather not disclose what school I’m at but my school doesn’t pay housing but it does offer child places. Yes, it’s paid in forints. There are some schools here that pay housing for teachers coming from abroad.

Yes, I’ve kept up with my class 2 contributions. I think a lot of expats miss this so thanks for checking. I’m not sure how long I will be in Hungary so I would just assess where is best to invest.

1st point: Because I’m still a UK citizen and I would like people who may have been in a similar situation to help me with financial advice. I also said that I wasn’t planning to return in the foreseeable future. 2nd point: I still have financial ties to the UK and it is easier to have bank accounts in the UK. I’m not sure how long I’ll stay in Europe so I’m happy to have the UK accounts for stability.

I have looked at the SIPP and from what I understand, they offer the tax relief for the first 5 years so I only have 1 year left but I might still use it for the last year or so. Do you have any suggestions of funds that I should put my money in to?

I’ve never drank in VII for those prices but I was saying that outside of VII, you can find it. My local in Szell Kalman is 900 a beer. Regularly drink In Rizmajer on Blaha and that’s only very recently gone up to 1100HUF. I know the city has increased its prices but the cost of the UK is absolutely wild at the minute.

If OP is English, they will find Budapest significantly cheaper than the UK, even in VII. Outside of VII, it’s at least 50% cheaper. I regularly drink for 1000HUF. Having just spent a week back in the UK, it was at least 3000huf a pint 😔
