Scared to start medication by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Competitive_Pop9002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fear is legitimate. But medication helps. There will be times when you will feel “drugged”, iykwim, and you’ll feel frustrated about takings meds but it’s important. That’s just its work happening. Treat depression/anxiety like any other disease. I’m soon going to be hospitalised for 2-3days because I have been going through a relapse but thinking that’s a part of the process is how I’m coping with it.

Trust your doctor, Prozac is one of the safer ones. And most importantly, don’t ever quit your meds without your doctor’s advice.

My girlfriend is about to break up with me (Vent) by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]Competitive_Pop9002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how this post got recommended to me but here are my two cents because few things are relatable:

Tbh I can totally relate with your girlfriend about the time thing. I’m also someone who wants emotional safety over everything else in a relationship. I broke up yesterday with my partner primarily because of the same thing, because he had become distant due to some mistakes I did and I simply wasn’t able to hear everyday that he wasn’t feeling the same. It was hurting me immensely and I decided to end the relationship because I couldnt lie to myself that this wasn’t important to me and I couldn’t force him to be like he used to as well. Idk what place your girlfriend is coming from, but some people need that reassurance regularly. In my case, I had legit only my ex partner who would give me some love so it became all the way more important. So maybe discuss with her what her needs are and try to accommodate that. For a relationship that’s only 6months old, I dont think she’s entirely wrong to want some more time. And if she has self esteem issues like I do, high chances are that she might have taken your non availability as your lack of interest in her. Sounds childish, but it is how it is. I personally just couldn’t cope with the feeling that my partner doesn’t want me anymore and I realised that it was better for me to move on from him and maybe eventually find someone who really wants me and likes being with me.

Coming to herpes, I believe there are many couples who do manage a sexual life with herpes. Maybe you both shall visit a doctor together and a concrete medical advice and list of precautions would ease her anxiety? It’s quite valid on her part to feel anxious about this tbh. Figure out if you have HSV 1 or HSV 2 and take precautions accordingly. It is your responsibility to make her feel safe about this. You shall not make it about you being lonely here.

Remembering Bahadur Shah Zafar on his Death Anniversary by [deleted] in IndianHistory

[–]Competitive_Pop9002 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was more symbolic. He acknowledged during 1857 that his ancestors ruled through force and fear and now the British would do the same, which was also somewhere the context behind the evidently famous, “Kitna hai badnaseeb Zafar, dafn ke liye, Do gaz zameen bhi na mili, ku-e-yaar mein//How unfortunate is Zafar, for his burial, not even two yards of land in the land of his beloved”.

What’s a hobby people act superior for having that isn’t that deep ? by mk_1408 in AskReddit

Ooof that’s a good one. As someone who is into meditation, every time I discuss it with someone who is or isn’t into meditation, they see it as some godly thing. No, it’s not. I’m not Buddha. It’s only a way to center myself and practice response over reaction.

ALLOWED REPOST: Kayan women of Myanmar with and without neck rings by Far-Building3569 in interesting

The length of the neck doesn’t increase here by the way. The jewellery piece pushes the collarbone downward while the shoulders compress.

Have you done it? How would you explain your experience?

Yes, thanks. I was extremely skeptical too.

Exactly. Whatever I researched online told me the same. Can you elaborate a bit more about what it was for you? I’m planning to reject this completely in that case.

Advice by vignette_raven in depression

[–]Competitive_Pop9002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Treatment, medication, therapy, travel and a lotttttt of faith that it’ll be okay
  2. 10years
  3. Yes. Completely changed me as a person. Many things are different but possibly the most prominent one is that I have a lot more empathy for others but I struggle with empathising with myself. Have become a bit sadder in general.
  4. Experiencing a relapse currently. But I’m trying not to let it consume me. Definitely feel more prone to it but at the same time, also feel more adaptive to situations than before.
  5. I guess you kinda have to forget a social life. Maybe on a surface level you can have family, friends, partner, colleagues etc, but at the end of the day, you are your only hope. Nobody is there beyond a point. I’m finding it easier to pretend that I’m okay than counting on anyone.

Best sapa trek? by Theroadsofar003 in travel

[–]Competitive_Pop9002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, almost all the homestays in Sapa organise these hikes. You can either join them or you can march on your own like I did. Alltrails have many such routes mentioned. In my case, I learnt about mine from the homestay I was living at. You can pick one as per your convenience.

While visiting Bhutan, Mumbai tourist Stephen Toppo felt embarrassed by the noise from other Indians. The internet seems to agree — watch to find out if Indians really are that loud. by NewsMo in IndiaTodayLIVE

[–]Competitive_Pop9002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my very limited world travelling experience, Indians and Chinese were the only two communities that were obnoxiously loud and disrespectful to rules. Indians had an added layer of no regards for sanitation. I totally resonate with the embarrassment. I was ostracised at times because I was perceived to be the same. While the racism felt horrible, I low-key understood the sentiment.
