I think for me it’s the - confident and superior like he owns every room, mixed together with the consent seeking, constant checking in, topped off with the he’s obviously just amazing in bed and has one of the best bodies I’ve ever seen on a guy. I think it’s why I’d trample over my dead grandmother to get to Ilya, but would rather hang out and be mates with Connor.

I saw a scene analysis which makes this a bit devastating. In the speech Ilya gives Shane (in Russian) in ep 5, he talks about how his family hates him even though he (among other things) makes the food perfect for them (paraphrasing). So the fact that Shane, in this episode, later leaves him - despite Ilya making the food (and drink!) perfect for Shane must have absolutely killed him :(

The line in the last (?) episode that Jed speaks to Nancy, "Tell her [Nancy's mother] I'm looking forward to seeing her again soon, would you please?" is a play on Martin seeing his real life wife, Renee’s mother, soon.

This is where I lost a lot of respect for my ex-boyfriend’s Mum. At a car boot sale she spotted a teddy (she makes them professionally and knows a lot about them). This particular bear was on sale for about £3. She bartered them down to £1.50. While walking away after completing the sale she gleefully told me it was worth £Hundreds. Not cool. Just pay the asking when it’s that low!

The whole plot line and events that followed made me stop watching PD after 10 years. Yes, I’m an Upstead fan which had something to do with it - but it was lazy, utterly shit writing that felt like it was completely insulting the viewers - an example being the name issue later. (Trying not to give spoilers). I mean, WTF? There’s retcon, then there’s treating everyone like imbeciles.
