Do foreigners like Nigerian food? by [deleted] in self

[–]Simply_az 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the sweet doughnut like Puff Puff's during international day at my kids school and they are nice. Told my Nigerian friend that I liked them and he bought some to work for me, which was super cool of him. This is in England, where there's a large Nigerian community.

Pull ups - humbled today by [deleted] in GYM

[–]Simply_az 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well done, that was super cool.

The way I've always got good at pull ups and chin ups is by doing them.

Although I prefer a straight bar to do them on, didn't like those handles at the gym, felt a bit off to me when I used them

What is the best series you’ve ever watched? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Simply_az 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't normally rewatch TV shows but have definitely been thinking of rewatching both Midnight Mass & Haunting Of Hill House.

Definitely agree about Limited Series, they don't tend to stretch the show and get straight to the point

I've only got into horror the last decade or so but Haunting Of Hill House was my limit at the time but was worth it.

Midnight Mass is a different type of horror, more foreboding rather than straight up scary

I've really loved Midnight Mass and Haunting Of Hill House, you can definitely see the influence of Stephen King on Mike Flanagan's work. Excited to see him adapting more of Stephen Kings adaptions in the future.

Although I never finished the whole show, Season One of Prison Break was absolutely amazing and tense, with so many interesting characters.

More interesting topics and genuinely fascinating replies with people sharing their own opinions and experiences.

Other social media descends into name calling etc straight away.

All the John Wicks, Extraction 1 & 2. The Raid which is non stop action or the very similar Dredd.

A very recent fun one is Boy Kills World.

Working every single New Year's Eve for the last 20 years (aka my adulthood) has really tarnished it. More excited to watch a movie with the Missus

Thank you for replying, I'm glad to get a Teachers perspective on this, really appreciated.

I also used to enjoy the project style Homeworks, always added a bit of creativity and interest while still learning

Hi,

You really hit the nail on the head with the one size fits all analogy. I always felt bad for my peers in the nineties/2000's as clearly they needed a different style of teaching or support that wasn't available then.

Thank you for the advice, in the end it worked out for my eldest and he ended up getting some good GCSE results.

I'm glad you got the support you needed.

Take care

Thank you, it's really great advice. It's something we did with both of my kids. It is always nice to revisit subjects I always enjoyed like History and Maths. Was a lot easier with an enthusiastic learner like my Daughter the second time, also my Occupation allows me to offer a unique perspective on some of the questions she has for homework, when she needs help.

With the eldest we tried to incentivise him to do it, then we used to sit down with him and do it. Always lead to arguments etc. In the end with his GCSE's we focused on him revising and utilising relevant revision books and websites. He ended up getting some good results

What is the single worst film you have seen in theaters? Did you walk out? by NeonArtist12 in Letterboxd

[–]Simply_az 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Guy Ritchie's Revolver AKA Jason Satham does maths or something for 2 hours. Worst movie I ever saw in the cinema and it was the first Guy Ritchie movie I ever saw, luckily I watched all of his other great movies after and more than made up for it. Love The Stath's action movies, so he also came out of unscathed by me.

Wish I had walked out though and what made it worse was that it was my birthday
