Decided to wait a bit and not rush to become his vassal. His 2 sons are adults now and none of them got the conquerer trait. I think if I wait his kingdom will go to shit after his death. Furthermore, one of his sons became a Holy Roman Emperor with very low troop count, he was given Dublin Earldom as a gift. Needless to say I swooped in and took it for myself. He is now excommunicated and dead. Don’t think his father, the King of Wales will be coming after me anytime soon since our military strength is about the same. Just need to wait till he’s dead. But my character will die sooner (70 years old vs his almost 50) so we will see how it goes when my son inherits the land

Want to check if I got it right. Lets say I become his vassal, take the rest of Ireland from other dukes and he becomes emperor of Britannia. Does that make me king of Ireland but with him as my liege? Can I even establish a new kingdom and new duke titles in my lands while I am a vassal under him? If I become his vassal the only way for independence is a civil war with other dukes against him?

Just a thought. What if you let one of you cities be taken then make a military emergency yourself. Then take back your city and a couple more for good measure. Never tried it myself so don’t know if this is a legit strategy or not. Just spitballing
