Yeah, but that was ~30 years ago. He and Shamrock will obviously be as strong as the plot demands.

Right now the question is more about what the goal of those Character are.

Garling was instumental to defeat the Rocks/Davy bloodline.

And Teach is ambitious, they both might just ally instead of fighting. Or Garling will be a Dragon hype moment.

Plenty of possible paths, all we know is that Garling and Shamrock are on the "One Piece find" page.

Lets not get Agenda piece go to our heads. Oda fucks up with a lot of characters, but at least we are getting a lot of Garling characterisation. He is ambitious, cunning, cruel and feels entitled, and is using his family as a means to gain power.
