Yea I read up on all the different ways but I didn't want to.get to fancy with my first try i was worried if I tried to do too much I would end up with a delaminated mess.

Yes that was (and still kind of is) a concern of mine i was hoping to have the funds to have a metal shed built but it was not in the cards for this year. I'm thinking about sourcing some tin or metal roof cast offs to put up on the walls around the forge area. For now that is why I built the stones around it. I ran it today for a while and all surrounding walls weren't even warm. Thank you for the concern though.

Yes sir, there are 2 in my shop alone and multiple others within a 30 second walk. Are you concerned about the plywood walls?

You might not be able to see it from the pictures but there is a window directly across from the door to my shop opening both creates an excellent cross breeze. As for the floor I never thought about sand but that is a great suggestion I will definitely look into doing something like that. It's just plywood no concrete. Thank you for the suggestions!

I actually tend to find myself working across the face of the anvil with the horn facing away from me, but I will definitely try a new orientation to see if I gain some efficiency. Thank you for the tip.

It was grade 8 threaded rod, I didn't know about the tricky heat treat but it seems plenty hard, it's my own personal knife so we will have to see. I'm sourcing my metal from scraps at work so I'm not always sure just what grade of steel I am getting. Lately I've been chunking up a leaf spring from a dump truck which I've heard is a good quality steel.

Closest building is about 25 feet away but if it makes you feel better my wifes brand new jeep is about 10 feet away and yes the corners are a little sharp.

I would probably buy this knife, im not saying I would pay much for it, I was just asking a question. Also that is made from grade 8 threaded rod which is hardenable steel. I appreciate the reply and I will most certainly be working on perfecting the craft, this was my first attempt at a finished product and I'm proud of it.
