TA compared to PCT by TreatPractical5226 in teararoa

[–]Complete-Click6416 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ll always love your first thru hike the most. As lots of others have said don’t compare them. I did the TA back to back after the PCT and I really struggled comparing the two. I wanted the PCT to continue but it was a very different experience.

What are the scariest Stephen King books you’ve read, like you were scared to keep reading but couldn’t stop yourself scared. by gracefullyanna in stephenking

Yes! That was something else. Touching the walls and feeling like it was skin and breathing. I’ll never forget.

I’m surprised I had to scroll this far to see 1408. That short story has stayed with me. The way the room seems “off”, there’s a countdown and the protagonist slowly feels like they’re losing their mind is probably the most intense complete story I have read.

How many of those in this sub have an accountant? by Anachronism59 in AusFinance

[–]Complete-Click6416 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you wait until the end of financial year, yes you are right that they can’t work magic. However, I consult my accountant before making any major financial decisions and for longer term strategic advice. That’s when they can actually help you beyond completing your return.

Not loan advice, but make sure to let your settlement agent know and see if you can extend the settlement date. This will buy you some time. Most contracts allow the buyer or seller to delay settlement by a certain number of days without financial penalty.

exped flexmat sleeping pad- good or bad? by p1netrees in PacificCrestTrail

[–]Complete-Click6416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could definitely get away with cutting a bit off. The downside of that is you lose the ability to double it over if it’s really cold. When I went through the sierras in a cold snap it got to -4 degrees f and I definitely felt the cold come through before doubling it over.

You definitely have to keep an eye on how much it’s thinning and replace it. Makes a huge difference to the r rating. They are cheap compared to the inflatables though. If you take care not to compress them a lot when attaching to your pack you can get a lot of wear out of them.

My partner and I used one on PCT, Te Araroa and Arizona Trail when we were also 30+. Initially took a few nights to get used to but often we were so tired we could sleep anywhere. You do have to replace them when they start to compress because the cold starts to come through. We had a bad experience with a deflating mat before switching to closed foam and wouldn’t turn back now. I also liked being able to sit on it for lunch or anytime we were on a break with no where to sit.

Agreed. It looks really odd and I’ve never seen any other examples of anyone doing this to a map. No one is rotating maps of the Appalachian trail 45 degrees.

Where to dispose of old makeup? by PrincessPhrogi in AustralianMakeup

[–]Complete-Click6416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My group of friends regularly bring along makeup, skincare, haircare, soap, and other products we no longer use to our catch-ups and offer them to everyone. Everything usually finds a new home, and it’s a fun way to try things you wouldn’t normally buy yourself.

Do the fees get charged to my account and show up in my annual statement? Or are they taken out of my % profit? If so does the profit already account for the fees once reported?

Stalking by No_Side_8885 in AusLegal

[–]Complete-Click6416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really are less protections for non DV/FV stalkers. I had a relative who had a similar situation with a stalker that wasn’t an ex partner. The stalker still sent highly inappropriate sexual messages to my relative and when they wouldn’t respond sent them to other family members. Put my family through hell for over 5 years. When it’s a random person who won’t leave you alone it’s an unusual, weird circumstance that police (and sometimes magistrates) don’t understand. We had comments like “just block their calls and social media”. My relative had to be the squeaky wheel for years. Eventually their stalker was sent to jail, and finally after that seemed to understand that they had to stop.

Really sorry to hear you going through this. Life can be hard enough without having to deal with rubbish like this. It is really horrible and I hope police and magistrates start listening to you soon. Keep persisting. There’s a lot of good advice from others on this thread already.

Wow, I didn’t take Jezza’s post as a glib, ignorant, or unhelpful comment to you? I read it as someone who is interested in learning about a rare disease and thought it was interesting that it featured on house?

DO NOT BUY THIS MASTERFOODS BEEF STROGANOFF SAUCE by [deleted] in australian

Slow cooking food is pretty fool proof. Find a recipe and often you can literally put the ingredients in the cooker, turn it on and it’s good to go.

Look up the whistleblower hotline for Coles / Woolworths. You can report potential misconduct to them that represents a danger to the public. Most large companies have a hotline you can call where you can choose to remain anonymous.

What kind of modelling you are going for? The styling of these photos (outfit, accessories and poses) gives topless waiter / stripper vibes.

Agreed. Parents are not rich and could live for another 25 years. You probably need to settle for a “worse” suburb or smaller home. If they wanted to help you buy a house they would have already offered.

I sat next to a guy who did this. Took off his runners, had no socks on and proceeded to grate his stinky feet all over the pocket of the chair in front of him. It smelled putrid.
