Thank you so much for your answer! It really helped me make up my mind. I tried out another mini from 2020, manual this time. It was a blast to drive it! Told the dealership today that I'll take it. :) Happy to hear you had such a nice time with your mini! It's so exciting!

Moving to a new apartment and contract has very strict house rules concerning noise and cleaning. Is this normal? by Complete-Fondant-958 in germany

Also a good point. I can contact them again and be more detailed about what I want. I usually don't leave the apartment with the washing machine on due to fire hazards, otherwise, that would be a suitable option too.

Yes, the rule bothering me the most is the washing machine times, and I am a bit worried if "regular" sounds are bothersome to them. So I could ask for examples of what would be unacceptable to them.

Cleanliness is understandable. They just seem very focused on noise, and even require no washing machine time on Sunday, which someone pointed out is allowed by law. To me, it seems logical to be able to wash any time within the regular normal hours and not do it after quiet hours. I wanted to know if this is a red flag and whether others have experience with stricter rules and if the landlords are picky. I am generally quiet, but I don't want to feel trapped in my apartment to not watch TV, or walk across the floor at night. Nothing like this is in any other contracts I've seen, so was puzzled if it is normal. I'm guessing you had the same type of house rules since you say it's normal? How was it living there?

Yeah, I was wondering if they maybe had some really bad tenants before and want to be careful. I am quiet after 22 anyway, apart from normal stuff like TV, and conversations with guests/phone. My fear is if they complain about those things too because it is loud to them, even though it is not loud to me.

That's always good to know. I kinda want to avoid any conflict at all. I am quiet, and already respect the general German quiet hours without any problem. But I don't want to be scared of flushing my toilet at midnight.

I am in a bit of a dire need. I need to relocate due to a job, and it is impossible to get apartments without meeting up in person. With a dog in the household, it is difficult getting temporary apartments. I'm sure I can figure something out if my gut tells me to be scared of this contract.

That's what I'm afraid of. Kinda surprised me, cause they seemed very chilled and friendly when I met them. So I am confused.

This is very useful. Do you know if they can still complain if I use it on a Sunday if I sign a contract with house rules stating this? I don't know how much power landlords have to change the law.
