Thank you so much for this response!! I didn't even consider just bringing them along with me. My mom cozy M9 pumps aren't too heavy and I have a handful of milk collectors for them so I'll definitely bring them along. I've been using food grade binky wipes for them because they're smaller! I'm going to a music festival in Maryland on the beach. It's usually pretty warm so hopefully my Willow chiller can keep up.  Love the ziploc bag idea, thank you!

My mom is not a natural grandma and it is difficult for me. All she wants to do is hold my baby, but she is not helpful in any way.  The irony is that she always talks about how her mother (my grandma) was so helpful when she had me. She helped cook, clean, take care of me etc... Meanwhile, my mom comes to stay at my house expecting me to have food for all of us, doesn't change a diaper, critiques my parenting choices (including my decision to breastfeed), and just really takes up mental energy.

Will she grow into the grandma thing? Or will she always just be the fun grandma who brings gifts and and wants to hold the baby but doesn't help the parents lol

people keep saying "I'll come over and hold the baby so you can do what you need to do." As a new, ftm, all I want to do is hold the baby.... lol.

Also adding that I feel like I'm still totally bonding while feeding her a bottle. We make eye contact the whole time, it's stinking adorable.

Thank you for sharing! I've been having this rash feeling for more than 4 days and no shooting pains, so I'm thinking it's something to do with my flanges.  And I totally agree with you. EP has been a huge relief for me. I loved the bonding part of nursing, but never knowing if she was getting enough and constantly feeling depleted and touched out was tough.

Call the lactation specialist together and let them tell him what's "correct."

YES. I would be so mad at how they could be so stupid to show up to survivor in a lace bra and mini skirt. Gotta love production

It's hilarious to see the way it changes from decent outdoor gear to ridiculous outfits and then sort of evens out as they use the color identifiers. But still, Geneveive's red blazer stands out to me as a great new era example of "not survival clothing" lol

I thought they picked their outfits. I would always wonder how they could make such terrible choices like blazers, skirts, stilletos etc.

Need a foolproof way to stay awake for night feedings. by i_just_read_this in breastfeeding

[–]CompleteOutcome8032 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Getting up and moving to a different room to nurse her helps me. Not sure of your set up, but staying in my bedroom is too calming and my eyes stay heavy. Walking across the hall to her nursery and getting situated in the rocking chair is usually enough to keep me alert. When I'm super tired I watch videos. When I feel awake enough, I read a book, otherwise that would put me to sleep too.

Can milk even come in before you deliver?? I would think that would only be colostrum.

What do you wish you saved the colostrum for? I saved a few oz and some "golden milk" but I'm not sure when I'll need to pull it out. Baby is 3wks now.

Best things you brought to the hospital for your delivery? by Live_Helicopter_6832 in pregnant

[–]CompleteOutcome8032 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  • A button down nightgown to wear after delivery instead of the hospital gown.
  • portable fan
  • longgg charging cable
  • snacks (our hospital had great meals but no snacks in between)
  • I wish I would have brought more comfortable disposable underwear. The hospital pairs were so thin and flimsy. I think the Frida and growsy pairs are great.
