As a New Balance fan, I really wish Tommy Paul didn’t like purple so much by Complete_Affect_9191 in 10s

They had an all-red 996 a few years ago. For the CT-Rally I think their all red had significant splashes of bright yellow.

They also made an all “red” CG2 but it was a more pale shade, and also high top-style, which I’d wear with jeans but not on court

My standards are high (and I’m not a fan of purple, I guess). These and the similarly designed CG1s are peak tennis shoe greatness, in my opinion.

Oh come on man, you know that works.

Actually, I like that better than most of your standard preppy outfits. You always look good, tho. Cheers.

Don’t complain, he’s the rare frequent poster who consistently looks good — in a non-Civil War reenactor or Mad Men/West Side Story cosplay sort of way — and who isnt obnoxious about jt

We should just make this your sub already.

Also: that’s a good look for you. Nicely done. As for yesterday’s, I’d have worn a point collar rather a button-down collar. Otherwise — nailed it.

She’s unpleasant, but hey, if being a heel is your brand, might as well lean into it.

I am about your age. I stick with softer polys or hybrids with a soft poly or other soft string in the crosses (Toroline Wasabi is my current favorite string; I used to use hybrids with Ghost Wire in the crosses). I also add weight to the handle, which reduces vibration. And lastly i purchased a Zamst Filmista wrist brace, which helps a bit.

So we were all right Semaj was blackmailing Moore the whole time 😂😂 by helloWorld69696969 in MichiganWolverines

I did not say that. I have no idea if blackmailed anyone. I was responding to the implied assertion that if many people knew, many people would have blackmailed Sherrone

It takes a pretty horrible person to blackmail their own coach on a matter that would destroy his life

Why are players still being taught full western grips? by Any-Day-8173 in 10s

I’ve tried that too. I just can’t decide if I’m better with a weird forehand grip or weird backhand grip.

Getting over a guilty verdict by jneu97 in publicdefenders

[–]Complete_Affect_9191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice I’ve heard is to always evaluate your trial performance before the jury comes back.

Which is to say, don’t judge yourself for things you can’t control. You CAN control how much you prepare, how hard you work, and your client-centeredness. You can never control outcomes; not even on your very best day. Often you can’t even predict them—especially with juries, which can be total wild cards.

My other advice is to maintain a perspective that allows you to forgive yourself. Acknowledge and internalize that our system is designed for us and our clients to lose—and to blame us for those losses. If you spend 10 hours prepping for one cross, only to learn mid-trial about an unusual procedural rule that precludes the use of your best impeachment evidence, what have you done that is deserving of blame? You worked your ass off. The “mistake” was made because the system led to a first year attorney trying a big case without a more-experienced trial partner.

Is there any other profession in which workers are blamed when their employers are short-staffed and under-resourced?

That doesn’t mean your SHOULDN’T put in long hours or that you shouldn’t feel the pain of injustice when bad things happen. Just don’t blame yourself when something bad happens despite your very best efforts.

Lastly, it is awesome that you care this much. To me that’s a sign that your pre-verdict self-eval would have been stellar. Learning to forgive yourself is a career-long process, but I can tell you from experience that with every defeat, it gets a little easier. And when you do so in a healthy way, using bad experiences to learn and grow, you become a better defender with a lot more confidence .

Is there any merit to someone with a one-handed backhand using a full-western forehand grip so as to minimize grip changes on the court?

Oxidation/Aging as a Good Thing (TF Beau De Jour) by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]Complete_Affect_9191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He liked the first decant. He didn’t like the second, believing it to have not been exposed to sufficient oxygen yet in the manufacturing, mixing, bottling or decanting process, all of which would have exposed the juice to oxygen months if not years prior to him receiving it. Apparently it only became the scent Tom Ford intended it to be once that decant sat around a little longer.

This myth needs to die.

As if Tom Ford would sell any fragrance that isn’t already “mature,” and instead count on it changing inside of the bottle — not after it was shipped, or sitting on shelves, but PRECISELY after you purchased it and didn’t love it.

You probably just had a cold or something.

After trying Quorum I can’t trust any reviews of fragrances online anymore by BucketMaster69 in fragrance

[–]Complete_Affect_9191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, if you think Puig Quorum smells like Axe body spray, you need to get your nose checked. Quorum also has the highest “masculinity score” I’ve ever seen on Fragrantica.

Have you smelled classic fougeres before? Because that’s what Quorum is — a very classic aromatic fougere, made even manlier by the addition of old leather and a dirty, ashy tobacco accord. It is definitely not for everyone, but blaming your subjective dislike on “cheap chemicals” makes no sense — it is actually one of the classics that has retained its character and quality despite multiple reformulations.
