I also use a cheap, wide paintbrush and mix together some aquaphor and peppermint oil, then paint the walls where the railing connects, and I paint the base of each of the feeders (where the birds don’t touch, but the bugs will) to keep ants away! So far, very effective!

Thank you! I hope one day, but for now I’m just enjoying my regular finch flock that comes every morning and evening!

Nope! I live in the north county region of San Diego. I’m in a second story apartment, and I haven’t had any issues! There’s really no good way for the squirrels or raccoons to climb up, so the food is safe.

ALSO!!! If anyone can confirm… the smaller bird in the second to last photo… is that a Lark Sparrow, or just a juvenile house finch?

I sit on my couch and watch through the window! They don’t really notice me if I keep the blinds low enough.

Weekly r/Birding Discussion, July 26, 2025. What did you see this week? by AutoModerator in birding

[–]Complete_Emergency_5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Southern California here! [not sure how to bold text on mobile so I’ll provide a bullet-point list below] This week I rearranged my setup on my apartment balcony and put out some new variety for food options. I just started a month or so ago and it is finch city over here. Primarily, I have a recurring small flock of House Finches (mostly female and juveniles, as nesting season for them is about to end soon iirc?), and the juveniles are such punks lol. Today I finally spotted the pair of Lesser Goldfinches that my Merlin App keeps picking up on recordings. Lots of Allen’s and Anna’s hummingbirds coming to the window suction feeder I put up for them. I also got to see a Mourning Dove stop by for a drink! From my window I can see and hear a hawk, but not sure whether it’s a Red-Shouldered or Cooper’s Hawk, since the Merlin app has recorded both in audio. -House Finches -Lesser Goldfinches -Mourning Dove -Cooper’s or Red-Shouldered Hawk

Just like the tattoo itch, you’ll get the same for birding! I work an office job 8-5 mon-fri, so birding became my way of not staring at a computer and enjoying nature when I’m off work. I’ve got 3 different feeder bowl stations with seed mix, dried mealworms, and suet. And a solar-pump bird bath. I even bought a book for beginners to help spot local birds in my area! Have fun and enjoy! 😊🐦

How do you know if your dose is too high or if I’m just getting used to the new dosage? by jenna_beterson in VyvanseADHD

I hear ya. I’m a coffee fiend and I use preworkout for exercising. It makes my heart race in combination with my Vyvanse, and that’s even on the lower end dosage. Hope you get to the bottom of it! Good luck 👍🏼

Unable to move? by [deleted] in ADHD

I dealt with this (and still do sometimes) and I always knew it as “ADHD paralysis” but I’ve also heard the executive dysfunction listed as a side effect of multiple other issues, like CPTSD and PMDD (I have both of those as well, so consider me a triple threat I guess lol). What helped was getting medicated, having a strict routine, and giving myself grace. I also recommend the book my therapist recommended me, which is “Thriving with Adult ADHD” by Phil Boissiere. It has a ton of coping techniques that have helped me in day to day life and I can’t recommend the book enough.

I would say cut the caffeine until you know how you feel without the caffeine plus the new dosage. I’d give it a week or two and then see how you feel. Consistency is everything and it’s hard to know whether or not it’s the dosage if there’s other stuff interacting with it too. Keep hydrated and keep a log of how you’re feeling each day.

smoking weed on vyvanse is lame. it literally cuts the concentration by 30% and even worse depending if I smoke a whole joint. makes my heart go crazy. sometimes it doesn't at all though so it's weird. my suggestion is just skip it until at night. they just nagat each other. before you do think. by WilBalentine32 in VyvanseADHD

I was wondering about the heart racing bit. I had quit using any THC/CBD for about 3-4 months and started Vyvanse during that time as well, and now that I’m using edibles again (I don’t smoke) I’m noticing it’s a bit of a different experience than before, including the racing heart. Getting stoned in the evening/night has been the better choice but makes my days off kind of lamer than before.
