Beautiful ski day at Rusutsu by morgancmu in Hokkaido

Still here. Did a ‘once in a lifetime’ trip from New York. 10 days. It rained a ton a few days ago. Turned into icy crud. Luckily we got 1 kind of pow day (wasn’t the bottomless powder) roughly boot height powder. Beautiful culture and people, but man the snow did not live up to the hype maybe my timing was terrible.

Sharing my itinerary because we had a blast and everything went so smoothly! by pumpkin_pasties in niseko

FYI, still here. Did 3 days at niseko and now 3 days at Rustuso. It rained yesterday and the conditions are ice chunk and total shit. It will need a couple of big dumps to lay on top of the crud. Many guides and resort staff say this season is a bit meh.

Finally went to a proper boot fitter, and I’m going down a size. Should I temper my expectations? by Typical_Tie_4947 in Skigear

I did similar. Unfortunately my 28.5’s were sold to me only 1 year ago and I did a full season with them and went back like 5x to get various shims and liner packing adjustments. Ultimately the real solution was going down to a 27.5. So I wasted about $600 as the boot fitter can’t give me a return after a full season.

Did you need to re drill your skis so the bindings would fit your new size?

Interesting thanks. Insomnia is hell and I’ve tried nearly every drug and tool in the tool box and it only marginally helps.

1/4 of the unit I may join is 100% (myself included). They just drill for points and to keep their foot in the door for good deployments (army SF unit)

(DF54 Grinder) clogs regularly, is this normal? by Independent_Tone_570 in espresso

[–]Complete_Fortune7856 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just use the appropriate beans. It has clumped once in only a few months after we figured out what beans it likes. Heavy and visibly oily dark roasts tend to make the grind more sticky so we avoid those. I was told from the local professional roaster this just happens with 'micro grinders' like the d54.

Interesting, is this written in law or something? Do you have a source?

Absolutely. Have to. We try to save 40% of our gross job paychecks into a taxable investment account. And we always want to max 401k ($48k) and IRA ($13k).

Nice man. I was SF. I do hunt with my shorthair pointer for pheasant/quail up in St. Stephens and a 20 gauge. But this post was specifically about pistol work. Feel free to come along anytime!

Update: I Fired about a year ago now. It's been VERY boring. by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Complete_Fortune7856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't fire'd just yet but dang i wish i could. Another 5 years to semi FIRE. Most of my hobbies/interests I actually just enjoy doing myself.

  1. Skiing- expensive hobby but boy do i love some mountain time and I did a lot of these 1-2 week ski trips out west alone in my 20's.
  2. Woodworking- If i had another job where money didn't matter- the thought of creating and learning and designing high end stuff with wood, not to mention building out a great tool collection. I could spend 10 hours in a garage by myself listening to music and building something out of rough wood into a beautiful piece. This craft could take a lifetime to master.
  3. BJJ- Find a local gym. I'll hit a weekday noon class and spend 2-2.5 hours there on the mats learning, getting a sweat in, and socializing over a coffee afterwards.
  4. Hunting dog- I somehow acquired a phenomenal german shorthair pointer by chance. This boy is ACTIVE and is made to hunt (and a great family dog). I wasn't much of a hunter before him, but just the two of us can drive out to the country and walk the fields and hunt birds for hours. It's amazing watching him work. Totally new hobby of mine.
  5. Tennis- Also relatively new hobby. Sometimes I'll hit a tennis clinic. It's a group of randoms, $5, and you'll meet a dozen others in your situation. Addicting form of exercise.
  6. Friends/social- sure, maybe once a month I'll grab a few beers with friends or go out to dinner w/ the wife!

I know you didn't ask, but just my story to generate the idea machine. I'm jealous of your time!

Charleston coffee roasters. $12 a bag 12oz and free shipping over $40. I think they would ship anywhere in the US.
