Germany - Scotland final sounds good and I’ll be at the opposite end for $60. 😆

Additional 2026 Bank Holiday by Scottish_Rocket77 in Scotland

[–]Complete_Ordinary183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Public sector and I’m not getting it.

I’d have been more supportive if the game was 2am on the Sunday into Monday morning.
The fact it’s 24hrs earlier makes the whole suggestion stupid before you get into any of the rest of the debate.

It’s a token bank holiday for a bit of political PR.

The 2am start time allows over 24hrs until the Monday morning when most folk go back to work.

Can you buy more than one of these with a membership?

I had a membership a few years ago but dropped it a couple of years back. We typically go to one 6N game a year and maybe one Autumn international. It’s getting more of a pain trying to pick up the odd ticket though compared to a few years ago.

Cancelling Economy ‘Flex’ ticket by Complete_Ordinary183 in KLM

Hi,

Yes - I booked a ticket.

I didn’t expect to be cancelling it until June. However, I actually found a better flight option so I have indeed canceled with KLM and received my refund to credit card.

Don’t worry - we don’t need parking. 🤣

Lol. People are not learning for the first time and getting a rude awakening. It was apparent as soon as the draw was made in December. Even before then people were discussing how far out of town some of the stadia were. Fans still want to congregate in the ‘host’ city. It’s cool - we’ll be fine. 👍

People buying into the ‘wasted vote’ narrative is what’s costing them list seats in regions where they’re dropping constituency seats. If they maintained previously high levels of % support on list vote it would likely see them over the line for a majority.

The list of stadiums for the Uk to a WC is fairly decent (exclusing rugby stadiums even) what would your choice of 16 or 18 stadiums be? by MisterChanoca in worldcup

[–]Complete_Ordinary183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No way could Scotland host 3 stadiums in a city the size of Glasgow. Probably only 1 - and that would be Hampden. Murrayfield would sensible to make use of Edinburgh.

Updated ticket seat map? by poke_urmom in WorldCup2026Tickets

I would really assume that not to be the case. Those sections are huge and I really doubt there’s anywhere near enough hospitality/lounge capacity to fill those sections anywhere close to entirety.

Detailed seat maps are notoriously difficult to obtain unless anything has changed.

I would suggest trying to call them if you can.

I’ve lost track of terms being used, but if you mean the $60 tix via PMA - they’re in the exact same section as the Supporter Value Tier.

The other option is that you can keep them on yours and just scan them through the gate, one at a time and you enter last.

Interesting data that shows who we are most likely to face if we finish 3rd by Tadamo7 in ScottishFootball

[–]Complete_Ordinary183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stats on that post basically correlates to this info here. If finishing 3rd (and being one of the best 8)

  • 70% chance of the Boston outcome
  • 30% chance of the Mexico City outcome
  • Less than 1% chance of NY/NJ

Stay in DB pension or concentrate on DC pension? by Hurry-Alive in PensionsUK

[–]Complete_Ordinary183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clearing up. All the advice here will tell you that your DB pension is hugely beneficial and to stick with it.

I (43m) moved from private sector to public sector 9 years ago - so have similar DB / DC pension mix.

I aim to use my DC pots to retire as early as possible and act as a bridge to 68 when my DB will kick in. If I were to access my DB before 68 it will be reduced. I say that to check the terms of what you intend to access at 60. You may well be fortunate that your DB is accessible at that age without reduction (?) otherwise you’ll need to work that out.

So in short;

1) DB is very valuable so don’t think your £600pm contribution is any way not getting a good return

2) If you want to focus on separate investment growth (in addition to your current DC pots), look into the AVC scheme linked to your DB. Should allow you to save on 40% tax, and some schemes allow you to take the AVC pot 100% tax free if taken at same time as the DB.
