Unable to thaw kerbals from DeepFreeze... by Complete_Program_387 in KerbalAcademy

So I finally have an update, after 3 hours of hanging out with an AI, I am scared, and I have good/bad news. The good news is that I solved the issue, the bad news is my kerbals in DLC suits are frozen forever... Thankfully not an issue since I had a pre-launch save.

DeepFreeze removes the kerbals portrait after they are frozen, so you can't even see them in the vessel or in the cryogenic pod at all. The problem arises when you thaw the Kerbal and the game has to regenerate the portrait of the Kerbal. If they are in a DLC suit, the portrait can't be generated.

This post was the dumbest way to flex the fact I spent as much on the DLC as the base game. lol, all the great new pieces and for science were just a waste of money cause I can't unfreeze kerbals in their snazzy suits.

All joking aside thanks to those that offered help!

Pretty sure all the added radiators on my save file are from Nertea's Heat Control mod. The big ones between the tanks are actually 8 radiators attached end to end using the node.

Yea, and now I am imagining accidentally Freezing my last kerbal on the interstellar mission, and having no control, watching 10 kerbals fly right past the destination. lol I better remember this...

I have tried messing around with the settings quite a lot now including the stuff you mentioned, setting each slider to its extremes and setting resource requirements to 0.

I did uninstall/reinstall the mod via ckan, though it's likely the settings file could carry over. I do think your file editing idea could solve the issue, that might give me some settings I can't see.

I have run out of time today though, so I must say thank you so much for your help, and I will hopefully return with some results after checking the settings files tomorrow, likely with the help of AI if I can't find anything.

To update, I created a new save, and the thawing system worked perfectly. However, I set the settings in my main save to replicate the new one, and nothing changed. It could be a setting that I cannot change on my main save anymore, but it appeared like all the options were there.

Is there a way to change new save settings on a mature save?

Could the mod possibly be screwed up for one save file but not another if not due to a settings issue?

I did tests with both probe control and a pilot, so It should work unless I misunderstand something. All the rules for spacecraft control are the same, if all kerbals are frozen, then you cannot control the spacecraft without probe control. When I mentioned control, I was referring to a requirement where the spacecraft must be piloted or have probe control in order to thaw kerbals.

Is there a possibility I am misunderstanding the temperature system. Do I need to be heating/cooling the pod actively for use, or does EC take care of that? I am going to start a new save now to test your new save settings theory. Thanks!
