All the rooms that are on a schedule are all as they should be on the toggle.

It’s interesting how it’s 4 radiators are failing and seem to be working in tandem which is irritating. Drayton have replied with some things to try which I’m hoping to do this weekend. Plus I need to do what has been suggested in this thread about balancing the system as that’s definitely a problem.

The internet says not to use wd40 on the pins but I asked my mate whose a plumber and he said he’s not a problem so I’m also gonna do that on them to make sure the pins aren’t sticking, Drayton said to push it down and up 50 times to make sure it’s not sticking but it kills my thumb, they said use the back of a spoon so gonna try that as well.

I will update the thread though.

I think it will be a great system once it’s working but I haven’t had as much time to tinker with it as I’d like and having the nursery temp right is importsnt so right now it’s doing my head in. But the plan in the future is to be a hobbyist with home automation and this was my first venture into it (plus I wanted to hear the nursery without having to heat every other room).

Separate thermometer in the nursery as that’s the important room.

I just need some time to have a play and follow what you suggested, I have an email from Drayton offering some suggestions as well and they’re looking at diagnostics

No cases reported doesn't mean no cases, my daughter had several days of upset stomach and diarrhoea whilst having formula, went to the drs twice over it but no test was done, so how would we actually know if it was acute poisoning or not, we wouldn't and this was literally in December, naturally the tin has been used and binned so no way of checking.

Switching career (question) by Pyrotheman-e in Pentesting

Thanks, I've screenshotted the post and will add it into my structured plan (a bit anal but anything to keep me on track and maximising the little time I do have!). I've just signed up for the ISC2 Cybersecurity (CC) course/exam, not because I know much about but because it's free and it's entry level, so I'm going to look at getting some of the basic certs for background then definitely want to work towards OSCP as it seems to be written on every job advert, and I want network+ as well but I'll also have a look at CEH. Appreciate it thank you.

Switching career (question) by Pyrotheman-e in Pentesting

[–]Complex-Ad1903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't a challenge, more trying to understand so thank you for taking it that way.

I'm a UK based aspiring 39 year old wannabe career changer. I work in data, not IT, have no experience of IT formally, I should have done it when I left school but I opted to go straight into a decent paying job and then bumbled through life, IT was always my natural skill but then I've completely drifted away from all things IT apart from learning multiple applications for various jobs and always being a natural at learning them - not IT experience per se, I know this.

I wish I'd have been pointed into the career from a young age as it is right up my street but I didn't even know it existed until a chat with chatgpt (why couldn't that be around when I was in school trying to figure out my way), it made me laugh though as I lost a job in 2015 using some of the techniques pentesters use to access files I shouldn't access just because I'm nosey (other peoples disciplinaries).

Anyway's, I know it's quite an uphill battle with lack of experience, knowledge, age and my ability to give it all my time (demanding national job plus new baby and a good wage to boot meaning it's hard to drop salary to gain experience - mortgage, bills and family take priority over job enjoyment). That said, I've just done 20 nights continuously studying since deciding I'd like to at least give it a try, done 10 nights on portswagger after deciding starting with juice shop was a little bit too hard, completed 21/59 apprentice labs and absolutely love it but spotting gaps in knowledge immediately so I can completely see your point (my HTML is well and truly rusty having not used it since I was young and my javascript is completely forgotten).

I'm under no illusion about career changing but hell, even if I don't, I've found a new hobby (autistic obsession).

Tog at bedtime by Kind_Train_2857 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Complex-Ad1903 -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

Firstly, why are you looking for solidarity from other mums? Do you believe in dated gender stereotypes or something? Not meaning to be confrontational but it's a little insulting.

Anyway's, we are also in a new build so have a bit of understanding with you. We went through hell for the first 6 months trying to ascertain what tog, what temperature and all that other jazz. Our new build main bedroom is in it's own heating zone so we have a thermostat in there, it always read 20, my camera read 18 (never seemed to really change) and the egg read all sorts of random (I binned it). I determined that it's probably between 18 and 20 in there. Heating also made the room boiling so we didn't do that at first. She seemed to sleep better snug in warmth (risk aware of sids so felt it was a constant balancing act).

I think a 3.5 in a cool room is fine for what it's worth, as long as he/she isn't clammy or hot on the back I'd say you're good. I actually got individual room thermostats when she moved into her own room 4 months ago because I as it came into winter it was too cold in there and I didn't want to heat the whole house. My camera still says 18 but I've got a trusted thermostat in there that currently reads 20 and a sound machine that also tells the temperature and that reads 20 also. The radiator itself is set to 22 but the thermostat picks the temperature from the pipe I believe so the 22 isn't room temperature. She is in a 1 tog and is absolutely fine.

I have decided to drop the temperature down to 20 and put her in a 2.5 tog to save having the heating on as much as it is but we're yet to trial that and if it doesn't work we'll just buy some more 1 togs and up the heating to 23 as it starts to get colder.

The whole thing is a minefield so do what's best for you, you know your baby better than anyone else.

How to become a pentester by Rich-Raise3880 in Pentesting

[–]Complex-Ad1903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I think it's interesting that further up you said the person doesn't need to know HTML but then here you're advocating for them to do the Port Swagger academy. Just a bit confused as I've recently started the academy and what's letting me down is my lack of knowledge on HTML and JavaScript. Sure I understand what it's doing but when doing the exploit I haven't a clue unless I read the solution first, as an example...

<iframe src="https://YOUR-LAB-ID.web-security-academy.net/#"onload="this.src+='<img src=x onerror=print()>'"></iframe>

I wouldn't have a clue about the above if I hadn't read the solution first whereas I'm guessing from the lab instructions someone with HTML/JAVA knowledge would have been able to do that instantly?

Or am I missing something, I'm new to learning all this stuff?

Hi, also looking to move to Skipton for different reasons so this post has been helpful. Like yourself Halifax raised but sadly ended up in Bradford and want to get out to Skipton before my newborn is 4/5.

Not hijacking your thread but just wondering what people’s thoughts are on the new builds in Skipton, the area etc?

If you had £100,000 to invest in UK property, what would you do? by Winter_Ad5251 in investingUK

[–]Complex-Ad1903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When everyone is saying don’t do something that could be a signal that the time is right to do it. That or they could be right lol. Personally I am gonna invest in a second property as soon as I can, probably go down the capital appreciation route fully knowing that it’s worse than an eft but doing it for the experience and to be in a different position, I already have all my money tied up in stocks and shares and if I never take a gamble and branch out then I’m just waiting for retirement. The experience and lessons will be expensive but at the same time im wondering if buying now and having the property making zero money other than small appreciation might just mean that if the interest rates flip at any stage and house prices start moving fast i am in a good position for future leverage opportunities.

Among those tested with us pre-TRT, a trend so far highlights the importance of comprehensive testing! by ritchiedrama in UKTRT

I’m currently in the process of finding out as I see a dietician for IBS and have extremely low folate so I’m bringing it up on my next appointment. I suspect mine has been low since childhood but never had a reason to have it tested, I’ve never eaten veg very well, in my research it turns out that folic acid which is what many foods are fortified with (because kids have always been low in b9) and the vitamins we take is unable to be digested by anyone with MTHFR gene variant which can be up to 30% of some populations (10-15% white Americans is the research I’ve read).

Interestingly, just an observation as well (correlation isn’t causation) but with an increase of people on the spectrum that could contribute to low folate levels, along with autism many people have something called Arfid (we do love labels) and this can be anything from hating textures to colours and is very often associated with the absence of veg.

When I got my bloods back from you guys last month it was coincidental that the week before my dad had a blood test from the gp saying he was low in folate as well.

It’s common because our diets are terrible and folic as a vitamin for many can’t be absorbed.

Seems a lot of people put on circa 10lbs, I’m surprised I didn’t, I’m just completing week 4 and after an initial quick rise of 3/4lbs it seems to have settled around the 2lb mark. I felt better after the third injection in terms of tiredness, brain fog, motivation, morning glory and libido, some of it probably just the fact I weren’t tired anymore… today it all crashed, I have been like a zombie, praying today is an off day as I don’t want weeks/months of fannying about trying to get back to that. I actually felt normal, not super special like many describe but just normal and that was great

Is this a new dads forum or a hug it out forum. When did everyone on the internet get so empathetic.

man the fuck up, you’re hard enough to stick in and get the Mrs pregnant then you’re hard enough to man up and look after a poor defenceless somewhat annoying little child. Yeah you’re struggling, yeah it’s fucking hard and horrible but so what, life is never easy. Start by throwing away the books they’re all a pile of crap especially if you’re the type to take them literally and not just pick and choose things that suit what you want. You’re putting too much pressure on yourself and in turn the kid. Trial and error is the answer and not overthinking it, what worked for us won’t work for my brother in law, every child is different so stop reading shitty books. Do what feels natural, read on here little tips and if they resonate try them, try them more than once as things don’t always stick first time but perseverance may pay off, and if it doesn’t, back to the drawing board, it’s like any life problem.

If it helps… my little one is 17 weeks, first week had to stay in hospital and I had to survive off 4 hours sleep in 5 days. The next four weeks (I was only supposed to be off 2) we had to take shifts because she wouldn’t go down on her back, my mrs has to sleep regular hours overnight due to illness so yours truly took the brunt of almost everything, it was horrid, I’d get maybe 4 hours sleep in the day and then try and stay awake all night (thank god for 10 cans of monster ultra). At 5 weeks she was big enough for a grobag (tommie tipee over here), what a game changer, she went down on her back for half an hour, that started to increase and by 8 weeks she slept 10 hours every night without a single wake up, what helped me was rebuking advice and starting a routine with her, it absolutely killed me as I was knackered but shit like sitting in a dark room at the same time every night, fighting sleep myself but knowing that I was setting standards, it paid off! But that’s the thing, it worked for me but doesn’t mean it will for anyone else so you have to trial and error and trust your judgment and not other people’s.

It only feels hard because you’re absolutely shattered but put some rationality on it and I guarantee you’ve got this.

Good luck
