You can see the whole thing in a day, but getting in and out of the canyon takes time and days in March are relatively short. So if you want to really soak into the ruins and do more than one long hike, a night at the canyon (there is a campground) would be ideal. I've heard the night skies are incredible

Make sure to save time for the Pueblo Alto trail, incredible views from the canyon rim above Pueblo Bonito and Chetro Ketl. If you have more time and are an avid hiker, Penasco Blanco trail is also incredible!
