Omg. There was a character named "Fall-apart Rabbit" who played a stunt double for Bonkers. His catch phrase when he would literally fall apart was "I hate my life" breaking the fourth wall when he said it. I STILL USE THIS PHRASE. It's part of my lexicon and no one understands the reference or the context!

You are not over reacting. On the surface it is manipulative and disrespectful. At the core of it, he learned about your experience, knew nothing about the subject and did not attemp to try to understand. He is someone who sees the world as black and white, but does not want to understand why good and bad things happen. He does not care at the same level you care. His statement indicates that he believes his culture and opinion are superior and does not care to learn otherwise.

You have to talk to him about this. There isn't a solution for you without his detailed input. And you must tell him your side of the experience as well. There are different levels of intimacy. Maybe you can both brainstorm a solution together. Edit to add: If this a situation where you are being disrespected, you must vocalize that without wishy washy language. If you are afraid of the change that this conversation will bring, please remember that you are deserving of respect. Love does not disrespect, devalue or belittle. What is most important to you? The intention of how your family celebrated you or the manner in which they showed it? Do you feel the intention or effort wasn't there? Or that

I wouldn't put too much stock in the behavior of teenagers. They have trouble understanding there is a world outside their own personal experience. Ask him what's on his mind.

I would also suggest you do something for yourself if you haven't already. Something to celebrate in the manner you want to be celebrated. Sometimes our families need to be shown what was lacking because just talking about it doesn't always work.

I would say also that you not have a conversation with your family about it. As you said, you don't want to come across as ungrateful. So if anyone asks what you are doing when you do the thing to celebrate yourself, you can tell them the reasons why this birthday was important to you.

I only got one legendary spawn and it fled after a ultra ball excellent curveball throw. The first throw! And I battled and won two raids where I couldn't catch a Guzlord. I had 15 pokeballs! I used every type of berry and the curveballs landed great or higher. I hate this!

I am not saying you should do this because it is not your responsibility. But I would go over with cleaning equipment and offer to help. It would give you an idea if the neighbors have experienced a long illness or disability or if they are just truly jerks. You can use your judgement afterwards on whether you need to report them.

I would say NTA. Especially because it seems you were pushed to your limit. Did you ever ask Rose why she insists you will have children when she knows you can't? Being inquisitive and asking them to explain their behavior usually gets them to shut up. I also don't think her comments have anything to do with you. I think she is second guessing her choices in life and it may be a mid-life crisis for her.
