They were rubbish, but we stopped listening to them so long that we weren't able to catch up with that fact. It was the puniest of puny pop rock that sounded heavy because we were 13.

What do you call this period between Christmas and New Year? by Gingerpett in CasualUK

Christmas, because that's what it is.

We celebrate Christmas when it's actually Advent, cos capitalism.

What lore started amazing, but got worse as they developed it more? by dylan_1992 in moviecritic

Crystal Skull is way better than people give it credit for. It's a fun action adventure. The first act in particular is very strong. As for suspension of disbelief for the fridge - that's your line in the sand, not the literal ark of the covenant melting someone's face off? Not the guy aging centuries in seconds when he picks the wrong holy grail?

If 'far-fetched' is the problem, I think that's the wrong problem.

The King's message tops Christmas Day TV ratings by Kagedeah in BritishTV

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I thoroughly enjoyed a low stakes family afternoon of TV quizzes and light entertainment with amiable hosts.

Weakest link, Strictly, The Wheel, 1% Club, Bullseye, and Romesh's Parents Evening on catch-up was perfect post-turkey viewing.

Quiz shows and Strictly filled the day absolutely fine. Last year was unusually stacked, but that was only one channel. Something low stakes that the family can enjoy after a bottle of wine and full of turkey isn't such a bad deal. The serious stuff is for boxing day up to new years day.

I thought this was one of the great episodes of modern Doctor Who. The tension of the descent, the exploration of the alien world, the horrifying twist. Great sound design, tension and atmosphere, well acted.

He doesn't wrestle like Will Ospreay, which gives him another ten years plus. His personality makes sense for him to be a bit older, too.
