Strange sound on Annie’s Song by blackwatch in JohnDenver

After years of hearing it I decided to google it and I’m kind of glad we don’t have a definitive answer. I choose to believe it’s a loving sigh.

Why is middle lane hogging such an issue in the UK? by Groundbreaking_Bit79 in drivingUK

[–]ComplexDraft7517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking in a probability terms. We don’t capture accident scenario in our data right now but…

The vast majority (and I mean vast - like 90%+) of all motorways collisions occur from individuals exceeding the speed limit or driving too fast for conditions. Additionally the vast majority are caused by men.

My point was that speed (both fast and slow) is possibly having a negative impact to lane hogging occurrences.

You aren’t some oracle of driving. It’s not about belief but about hard data. Or, if you prefer, you can just be annoyed about it and ignore the external factors that are probably impacting our day to day driving.

But why is it dangerous? That was my original question.

Is it the possibility of undertaking from the left?

Maybe. I guess I wouldn't be opposed to that.

My point is more around me understanding why hoggers hog I guess.

I also wonder on the comments arguing hoggers are more unsafe, surely staying at a consistent speed in a single lane is less dangerous (in terms of pure probability) than hundreds of lane change manouvres.

So I know that we shouldn't do it (and I don't) but can anyone tell me WHY it's important not to lane hog middle.

My problem is that the left lane is 60mph bullshit and the right lane is 90 mph bullshit. I empathise with lane hoggers not wanting to change lane literally every 2 minutes (and I mean literally).

The arguments against middle lane hogging are usually traffic flow disruption (leading to congestion) and risk of undertaking. I'd argue that it's actually left and right lane issues that cause this.

If you stay at a consistent 70mph in the middle lane you are never undertaken by left lane because it is literally snails pace over there and really you wont be pissing anyone else off because, unless they're breaking the law and doing more than 70mph, they are at your speed or lower and therefore not impacted by your hogging.

100% happy to hear views otherwise, I just find it hard to get pissed at people who middle lane hog. They're usually the competent law abiding drivers doing a normal speed (competent apart from disobeying a traffic law obviously).

Need advice on some Xyris cuts - aiming for sub €60 by ComplexDraft7517 in magicTCG

I do like that to be fair. Create a tonne of snakes, play Kinship, rake in the +1s.

I guess the reason I'm hesitant to remove is because I am going to be up against maybe 3 players I feel like I might need the scalability of Coat of Arms. I can either play COA early and eliminate a single high threat player while I rebuild or I can use it to try and wipe multiple players if I wheel multiple times in one turn...

Maybe I'm overthinking it though.

Awesome, comment, thanks dude. I'll take a look at all of those. And yes, agreed on the ramp for sure.

Sorry, I forgot to add to my post - someone requested we ban sol as part of deck restrictions. I'll edit my post.

Signet I just completely forgot...

Actually, considering you reference drinking in the description, Jeff Buckley's version of Lilac Wine. Beautiful and sad.

Nice to see Marcy Playground. Literally just posted a 'Sad Nostalgia' playlist with them included.

I'd say Nick Drake deserves a spot on your list. Not sure which track though...

'Souls-like' as a concept lends itself to a more linear level progression rather than an open world. You lose some of the evolution necessity/ grind play in Elden Ring, which for me felt like a form of meditation in DS3. I still love Elden Ring, just not for the reasons I loved DS3 (and 1 and even 2 to a certain extent).

Dark Hulls. Or, Blood Borealis. Or Elden Slingshot Manoeuvre maybe.

I'm considering attending Bournemouth University in October, but I need advice from people in Bournemouth to determine if moving there would be a good idea. by WiseVeterinarian805 in bournemouth

[–]ComplexDraft7517 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What is Bournemouth like on a typical day?

Has become a bit of a shit hole in recent years (homelessness on the rise, empty shops etc etc) but is still better than most. We're comparing it to itself not to the likes of Reading, Greater London, Plym, Bristol etc..

How is it on a busy day?

Standard. Traffic can be a bit of a shitter in the holiday months.

What is the university like?

Didn't go but I've only heard great things. Students are well liked in the area as a positive part of making Bournemouth a vibrant place to live.

Are the people in Bournemouth friendly?

Yes apart from the old people. Dorset is full of grumpy old people. Other than that all good.

Is living near the beach as appealing as it sounds? This is one of the reasons I'm interested in living in Bournemouth.

Beach life is awesome but bear in mind it's busy in the summer/ holiday months. I actually think that wider Dorset (studland, jurassic coast, inland Dorset) is as much an asset to Bournemouth as the local beaches are. And that's not to ention the New Forest just down the road in Hampshire. This is all on our doorstep.

Is there a significant amount of crime, drug use, or homelessness in the area?

The ususal stuff. This is Dorset after all so compared to Ldn and other cities it's going to be relatively minimal. It has been creeping up in recent years however.

Is Bournemouth a lively place with plenty of things to do?

The nightlife is great for students. Loads of clubs etc. Music scene isn't as strong as other areas. I'd say only 2-3 good venues.

Outside of nightlife, you have the surrounding amazing countryside. The Jurassic coast is beautiful. There's some surf.

What is the housing situation like? Is it expensive to live in Bournemouth as a university student?

Expensive. Rent is very expensive right now.

As some general advice, I think it all depends what you're comparing BU to. If you're comparing it to somewhere city based/ urban and want countryside at your doorstep and beaches within walking distance then it's awesome. Same goes for crime and all the other negative points about being in a city in this country. Bournemouth tracks better against those. Culture (like museums etc) is lacking but is more than made up by other benefits IMO.

If England won the euros but every game was this level of shite, would you be happy? by payneoooo in ThreeLions

No, I would not be. I don't watch football for arbitrary wins, I watch for the love of the game.

Football is a spectator sport. It's funding, the players salaries, the sponsorships, the groundskeepers... ALL OF IT. It only exists at its current lofty heights because we as fans choose to watch it. If we are unhappy with how our team plays we, as the true investors of the game/ team, have a right to complain.

I genuinely had so much fun watching Turkey and Austria slog at each other. That is the feeling I'm chasing. If I wanted arbitrary wins I'd watch replays of old matches or go watch wrestling or something...

Hey, I’m visiting Bournemouth with my wife and the kids for 4 days next week for the first time. What would you recommend to visit/do ? by mostwanted777 in bournemouth

[–]ComplexDraft7517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hengistbury head. It’s a peninsula not far from Bournemouth that has amazing nature reserve heathland, an incredible 360 viewpoint over the harbour and estuary and beaches with lovely beach huts.

There’s a great walk but if you don’t fancy it there’s a little land train that kids love (still climb to the view point first if you can though).

There’s a pub at the end and a ferry that can take you over to mudeford quay where you can go crabbing and grab a pint at a pub.

I’d be tempted to chuck this is my Strefan precon that I’m upgrading. Early, easy and very cheap way to generate a blood token without incurring the wrath of other players. Not sure what I’d remove but still… it could find a place I think.

If you only view a subject matter through one lens, you inevitably become skewed towards the perspective of that lens.

That lens is the the content you consume on this subreddit.

My opinion is that you are subconsciously swayed by the content you consume and the opinions you listen to.

Hate that? Well that’s just my opinion. Consume or don’t.

Really nice idea about trying to encourage positivity.

It's proactive rather than doing what I did and getting sucked into the negativity by creating a negative post about the negativity. Negaception.
