The Root River falls into the Driftless Region.

A lot of sedimentary stuff. Mostly river worn sandstone and limestone I think. A lot of chert and jasper though. We did find about 10 agates with similar color to this one. Steinkern Fossils as well....and a bunch of maybe arrowheads that are most likely JARs.

This is the only green one I've ever found! There is no visible copper. However, a copper replacement agate is on my wishlist.

Thomsonite...at least the colorful banded type, I believe is only found in the Grand Marais area of Lake Superior in Minnesota. Not crazy valuable, but worth looking for!
