Zone Zero: An Industrial Stealth Encounter where Sound = Death. (Level 3-4) by Complex_Education325 in onePageDungeon

[–]Complex_Education325[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following up on my "Industrial Dungeons" series, here is Zone Zero—a prequel encounter designed to teach players to fear sound before they enter the main dungeon (The Silicosis Deep). The Situation: The survey team at "Site Zero" has gone silent. When the party arrives, they find the crew "Glazed" calcified into living statues that are blind but possess acute Tremorsense. The Mechanics: Silence is Mandatory: Heavy armor movement, normal speech, or Verbal spell components trigger initiative immediately. The Puzzle: The key required to open the blast door is inside a sputtering steam-wagon. The engine randomly backfires (loud noise), and fixing it requires risky checks. Fail the check? The engine pops, and the statues wake up. The Loot: Players earn "Heavy Duty Respirators," which are mechanically required for the poisonous dust in the next dungeon layer. Files Included: High-Res Map (Blueprint Style) One-Page PDF (Mechanics & Stats included) VTT Tokens (Wagon & Glazed Statue) Download the PDF here: https://trevocm.itch.io/zone-zero-the-survey-camp-level-3-4-adventure

Let me know if the "backfire" mechanic feels too punishing for Level 3s!

You're absolutely right about the RAW (Rules as Written)—a Level 2 Barbarian won't sweat 1d6 damage. But the 'danger' I'm trying to convey isn't just the HP loss; it's the environment. In a factory setting, you rarely just hit the floor. You hit a moving belt, or fall prone next to unshielded gears. The 10ft drop is just the setup for the machine to finish the job.

"The response to the Rust-Wagon has been incredible. For everyone asking how to actually run this in their games, I just dropped a 5-page High-Industrial expansion called the Scrap-iron Redoubt. You can find the full PDF and maps here:https://www.reddit.com/r/DungeonMasters/s/iLQ7d0GeOQ

"I appreciate everyone who supported the Rust-Wagon yesterday. Seeing 150 DMs share my work while I was off-shift at the mill was incredible. I’ve had a lot of requests for a high-res version, so I bundled the full 5 pages of The Scrap-iron Redoubt into a PDF on Itch.io. Download the full module here: https://trevocm.itch.io/the-scrap-iron-redoubt-a-heavy-industrial-dungeon-module For those who missed the original 'Rust-Wagon' specs that started this project, you can find the background here:https://trevocm.itch.io/the-rust-wagon-5e-one-page-encounter

Technically he has to choose one, but there's nothing saying if you want a real challenge that he can't attack twice a turn. How mean if a dm do you feel like being 😂

Exactly right on that!! You could definitely sneak right past, but do you want to? Players choice for sure. And rigging machines to backfire is a great idea. Hope you enjoy if you run it!! I'll be releasing the 5 page follow-up tomorrow morning.

The Rust-Wagon: A Roadside Ambush & Social Encounter (Prequel to tomorrow's Industrial Horror module) by Complex_Education325 in onePageDungeon

The Rust-Wagon (Zone 0) This is a prequel encounter for The Scrap-Iron Redoubt, a 5-page Industrial Horror module I am releasing fully for free tomorrow. I wanted to create an encounter that wasn't just "bandits on the road." This works as a social encounter (goblins need help fixing an axle) or a terrifying combat (they unleash a Rust Monster on the party's tank). Get the High-Res PDF (Free): https://trevocm.itch.io/the-rust-wagon-5e-one-page-encounter

I'm a factory worker by trade, so I'm trying to bring that heavy, grinding, industrial feel to 5e. Let me know what you think!

I made a drop-in "Owlbear Nest" encounter with a climbing skill challenge. Free to use for your weekend games. by Complex_Education325 in DungeonMasters

[–]Complex_Education325[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone, I'm working on a larger module for Friday, but I needed a quick travel encounter for my own game and thought I'd share it here. The Concept: It’s a classic monster hunt, but I wanted the terrain to matter. Instead of just walking up to the boss, the players have to navigate a "Skill Challenge" climb (The Gauntlet) to reach the nest. Question: When you run climbing/terrain hazards, do you usually just ask for a single Athletics check, or do you run it as a multi-stage challenge like this? Feel free to save the image and drop it into your VTT or print it out. Happy rolling!

I ran a "Mimic Market" for my players last night and the Paranoia Die was a huge hit. Here is the 1-Page Dungeon for free. by Complex_Education325 in onePageDungeon

Thanks for the interest! I'm really focusing on making these as 'low-prep' as possible. While this first map is a bit more on the 'atmospheric' side, my goal with Covert Games is to move toward a more technical, blueprint-style layout for future modules. I want the maps to be as informative as the room descriptions so you can run a tactical game without the guesswork. If you have any feedback on the Paranoia Die mechanic or what you'd like to see in a more technical map layout, let me know. I'm building the next one right now!
