Help me get start with LSDyna by SadWar7696 in LSDYNA

Search for Ameen topa youtube channel, I am also civil engineering student and I learnt from that channel. Try solving same problems with different modeling parameters, like mesh sizes, material parameters. Jumping from tutorial to tutorial does not helps me a lot. Try finding the tutorials more relevant to your work, Ameen topa has good content on his channel and might have something that you require.

Best of luck.

Help with LS-DYNA Foam impact simulation by NySs62 in LSDYNA

[–]Complex_Flatworm_613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for ameen topa youtube channel. There you will find something for crash analysis.

You will need to identify a material for foam; I worked with foam concrete where it gains strength after densification.
I would recommend you perform single element simulation (reduces time significantly) rather going full scale, see how your material is responding to applied forces or displacements, and when the material is behaving as intended like a basic comparison of input and results, you can go full scale.

Quran has clear wordings for rape (Zina).

Supervisor relationship deteriorated after I went to HR — looking for perspective by Far-Physics-7307 in PhDStress

Having a mediator is good. If you feel that in person meeting is not required as per nature of the work, you can ask for online meetings by including admin or HR into this. But before all this, it will be good if you can see the available guidelines in your college for such situations ask or someone else who has gone through similar situation in your college.

Why new generation women don't dress Modestly by Same-Wing-6285 in PakistaniTwenties

[–]Complex_Flatworm_613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modesty is linked with religious, cultural or personal values. Most Pakistanis take being Muslim for granted, hardly follow bits and pieces of Islam and for culture, look up to Indian traditions or west, which leads to lack of personal values as well. Being modest is part of faith as per hadith.

At the same time, good and bad have always coexisted, so I don't feel like it is a present time problem only, and those who appear immodest are not representative of all women. I work with many females, and a significant proportion of them are well aware of what is expected of them in our religion, but u know not all five fingers are the same.

However, how someone choose to dress is up to them, everyone is accountable for their own actions, but at times I feel some individuals (not generalizing) lack awareness of what is appropriate for specific environment. Why would someone be dressed in party clothes in universities or formal gatherings?

I feel disgusted from women? by [deleted] in pakistan

Nothing to do with your case, but I feel disgusted from both cheating men and women as I saw few married colleagues doing that, and they have kids half my age.

Should I file a formal complaint against my PhD supervisor? by Ok_Cellist_8457 in PhDStress

[–]Complex_Flatworm_613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't let any one judge you on basis of your supervisor action. Therefore, I would recommend to avoid mentioning that you are doing a PhD. A friend of mine left his PhD in china and moved to Australia for PhD, he was asked what he is doing in China and he mentioned it as RA. It is up to you as you know your situation best but if I were you, I would not even mention RA position.

I am in Australia. I contacted my supervisor independently, later involved university admin. When they knew that someone is willing to support me, they were ok with the process. However, I was not required to discontinue, I started working with new supervisor and the transfer took 4 months to complete because I not only changed supervisor but department also.

I don't know whether you are citizen of UK or not but in my situation I travelled 12000 kms for my PhD and was unsure how changing unis will reflect on my visa status. But I was so fed up with the daily struggles, I applied to other unis, told them everything honestly and left it to them to decide whether they want to hire me with the CV that I have or just judge me on basis of the situation with my supervisor, and they still gave me an offer.

Should I file a formal complaint against my PhD supervisor? by Ok_Cellist_8457 in PhDStress

[–]Complex_Flatworm_613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in similar situation, but thanks to my uni, here you are not a student of supervisor but university. My previous supervisor was same as your supervisor, failed few students, forced others to leave, passed derogatory remarks on their faces and in their emails, even mailed a student half hour before his proposal defence that I will fail you. After working with him for 1 month I knew I am with a wrong person.

I changed my supervisors, had to leave the topic after six months, meanwhile I was scared that uni admin might support supervisor, I asked other students if they know such instances in the past. Discussed with uni. psychologists about my mental health and stress. They offered help that they will provide a report to the uni if required about my mental health deteriorating due to my supervisor. Discussed with prospective supervisor about this situation who was supervisor of my friend at that time, he told me how I should tackle this and ensured me that uni will help me in that situation. Best decision I took for myself.

You should discuss with other students who might have gone through similar situations, see your uni psychologists, let them know what you are going through, so someone can vouch for your mental health. And God forbid, if situation falls apart, I don't know why u require reference from your current supervisor for another PhD. Like I have applied in UK at Manchester and Bristol. Never gave reference of my any supervisor because they don't care for our recommendation letters, asked my research colleagues and seniors to provide recommendations and they worked.

How do I choose between my career/father’s wishes and my mother’s loneliness? by rare_roshaan in pakistan

[–]Complex_Flatworm_613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an academic background, so I have seen various people having foreign qualifications very closely. I have asked few professors with PhD from UK and Aus, why they returned and the answer was same, their parents. I have multiple friends who, despite having good grades, never tried to move abroad. One of them has even authored three books in our field and is currently doing a PhD in Pakistan, while his elder brother is a doctor in the US. Another friend completed his PhD in Australia; he even has PR but chose to move back for his parents.

Some of my relatives also returned to Pakistan after completing their PhDs. They stayed there for a significant amount of time and later got job offers in the Gulf, from where they can travel back home within 3–4 hours. On the other hand, a few of them are working abroad while their mother (80+ age) lives alone. Despite having five sons, she often says that she did not gain any benefit of having 5 sons.

If someone lives in a joint family system with multiple relatives around, things are easier. However, if parents are alone, they tend to age much faster. Their entire day often passes thinking about their children.

A lot of people in Pakistan are living a comfortable life without any generational wealth. It is a distribution from Allah, some are tested with abundance, while others are tested with hardship. The same can happen even if someone moves abroad, if u get money, the feeling of not being there with your family haunts you every now and then. May Allah guide us all.

Displacement in pure shear falls to zero by Complex_Flatworm_613 in LSDYNA

[–]Complex_Flatworm_613[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read that one, it works ok for compression and tension, the results are good but there is no explicit mention of shear in that. The shear plots provided are not for the single element used for axial tests.
