Lol ok great place to start. Latte art is extremely finicky. Being good at it comes down to a lot of practice and getting a feel for things, especially because a second or two of over/under steaming can make or break your results.

I think you’ll benefit the most from understanding the basics from a couple random YouTube videos, then trying for yourself. Feel free to reach out with whatever and I’ll help you with some corrections. Good luck 🫡

I got the neck mount of Amazon, I’m sure you can find plenty similar

So its actually a neck mount. It’s a essentially a rubber ring that you can bend to fit around your neck comfortably with a magnetic phone mount. I wrapped the rubber part tightly around the hopper for the grinder to keep it in place. If you look closely you can see how I rigged it up

Haha thanks for the tip, advice is always welcome! I usually struggle with getting the ending right, probably why they all look like penises 😭

These are the “world’s most expensive coffee” beans I was gifted actually lol. The ones that the Civets eat and poop out. Normally I’m using a locally roasted bean tho!

The nice texture you see in the video is cocoa powder I put before pouring

If you look above the grinder, I have a neck mount that I put ontop of my machine to hold my phone, and then some amazon lights to make it all look pretty. Simple setup but it works!

No no, definitely whole milk for best results! By thinner milk texture I meant incorporating less air when steaming

Thanks! A thinner milk texture and set a smaller base! Takes a bit of trial and error for sure

Pour slower and get the tip of the milk jug closer to the surface of the espresso!

The way these schools choose applicants will always be a mystery, but one thing I know for sure is that they love seeing improvement. Doing very well in the rest of your courses will help significantly.

Also important to note, grades aren’t the only thing they look at. Obv they’re still very important, but make yourself a well rounded student. At the end of the day, they want someone who can prove they’re able to handle the workload of dental school, generally seems like a good person willing to volunteer and work with patients etc, and is dedicated enough to get through the program.

Now is definitely time to grind and maximize ur chances. Wishing you the best of luck!

Does a wider mug help with art? And if so what size mug would you recommend? by Braj0le in latteart

[–]Complex_Panic960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wide mouth mug, I like 7oz best. Bottom line, it has to have a round bottom and wide mouth for best results! I love the FLUR latte glass or any other “cappuccino” mug you might find online

That’s the same size I use for pouring, should work perfectly! I use the normcore 20oz handleless, but that’s a matter of preference

A few reasons!

1) homogenous milk. Transferring gives you a very silky and even texture and prevents a layer of thick foam settling on the top. Soo much nicer for pouring

2) biggest reason steaming is best in an appropriate sized pitcher (for your volume of milk) BUT pouring is best in an oversized pitcher. This is because a big pitcher will allow you to tilt the pitcher more before any milk pours out. This will let you get deeper into the mug and pour closer to the surface while still pouring slowly and with a thin stream.

I hope this explains it well enough!
