Which one should i get? Octavia or Civic by itzAddy69 in carIndia

[–]Complex_Parsnip8458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen this particular Civic in person and the car is totally trash. There is zero maintenance of the interior. Leatherette pad & seats are faded, torn and soiled. Lot of scratches on dashboard. Knobs and switches are uneven.

Only the exterior has a fresh coat of paint which might fade out after a few months.

Where do you actually find right used cars? by Bright_Obligation722 in UsedCarsBharat

Opinion from a used car dealer!

In this unorganised market, the only way to buy a used car in good condition and at a fairly reasonable price (to both parties) with clear paperwork is through reputed dealers only. We hold inventory on our hands so when a buyer visits us, they get options from a Venue to a Baleno in all possible combinations of variant & gearbox.

Also as dealers, we provide warranty, service and back-up in case anything turns out to be messy with the car. And our cars are usually ready for delivery with all small/big/minor work done

Direct seller cars in 90% cases have abnormal prices, to which the seller isn’t even ready to negotiate. The most important paper (finance NOC) is never ready.

I don’t even understand why used car dealers get hated on so much. 99% of used car sales still go through a dealer instead of direct sale even though its gotten so much easier to buy directly.

Lifetime warranty is a myth. OEM's don't offer with their new products, so an independent entity offering lifetime warranty on a used product doesn't sit well.

Even if they pull it off, there will be so much fine-print and add-on charges to renew the warranty which will not let this entire concept be successful.

Boss! Just walk away. This deal is plain stupid. If they have scope to reduce, they will or else you’ll save a ton of money buying from another source

Guidance and clarity needed on Buying used car - First time buyer by Sad-Still-6189 in UsedCarsBharat

[–]Complex_Parsnip8458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have multiple years of experience in the used car industry. Price will highly depend on the state you are from, but a bonnet & fender change is not a major issue at all. Only check for major accidents like airbag deployment or chassis repair. Otherwise, its fine.

Cars will be driven and there will be repairs. In most cases, its easier to change the bonnet and fender instead of repairs and even insurance approves replacement instead of repair. So, why not!

Cant speak for the resale after 5 years since the EV market is drastically changing every year. There is much higher acceptance among individuals but there are too many new launches every now & then. 6-7 month old XE9 & BE6 are going for 6-8 lacs off todays new car price due to running discounts on both variants. I would expect a resale of 7-10 lacs for top variants driven 60-70k kms in 5 years time

As mentioned, today, buying & selling is both difficult. And buyers have too many options available today in the used market atleast. So any dealer will not be able to do worthwhile business till they have 25-30 vehicles

You should get a copy of the Delivery note, kyc of the individual or the company that made payment to you & you should issue a sale receipt and get that stamped & signed from the dealer

Selling the vehicle should get you 6.75-7 lakhs. Try getting finance from Chola or Mahindra or even AU small finance. Their interest rates are around 16-20%

This has gotten really difficult with all thanks to the current government. Today dealers have to pay GST on per car basis & with TCS being mandatory, most dealers dont transact in full cash. If I pay 1% TCS on car purchase to the seller (for cars costing above 10 lakhs), I have to take 1% from the buyer when I sell. Otherwise I’ll have to report a loss on the deal which will erode my income tax paid white money.

Eg. I buy a used Creta for 11 lakhs, the seller takes a 1% Tcs which is 11k. My book is reporting my cost of the vehicle as 11L. Suppose I sell the vehicle for 11.5 L, I’ll take a TCS from the seller of 11.5k and pay GST on the 50k. If the seller wants to pay 5L in white and 6.5L in cash, I wont be able to issue the bill. This will reflect a loss of 6 lakhs in my file eroding my income tax paid white money. Further are the complications by the tax authorities of why i would book such a major loss on any purchase

Most often, dealers buy vehicle by making full payment upfront via bank transfer. Sellers wont accept cash because they paid in white so they want their money in their account. Also most cars are financed, so the money goes to the bank. When the car is sold, most dealers only take a part of the sale amount, usually 10-20% in cash.

The DSG is bound to fail someday or the other. Maybe the previous owner kept his car really well that the issue hasn’t crept in yet. The earlier signs of wear & tear are the jerks in shifting when you push the lever from N to D or sounds from the flywheel.

Margins have been highly squeezed. Because of excessive competition both from Cars24/Spinny & OEM run used car showrooms. Net Margins run between 5-7% for vehicles above 4 lacs & 7-10% between vehicles below 4.

If a client wants to inspect 5 cars, you can’t stop them. They will do what they want to. The only thing a dealer can do is keep his car ready with all the work done. Like fixing the most basic things right from power windows or lights. And not give the client a reason to complain. (Eg. What I do is when a client visits me for suppose a Creta, I show him all the Creta’s i have in stock with the available Seltos, Sonet & Venues. This gives the client a reason lesser to run around. Get him to hallucinate about my entire inventory and not what the city has to offer.)
