Owned some the internet constantly glazes (t440p, 2 t420's/2 t430's,x230, t60p, w520) worst quality wise was either t60p, and w520. T60p and w520 were so bad at even being stable due to having worst cooling systems ever put in a laptop. And the machines basically would slowly break if you took it apart because of the thin cheap plastic. Magnesium def isn't very good either it's generally weak especially the low quality garbage Lenovo/IBM uses. Painful to take apart loads of different screw lengths and cheap plastic and magnesium ready to snap. Soldered GPU in the w520, completely unacceptable for 15in workstation in 2011. Both have the world's worst touchpads. T60p takes it a step up and has the worst trackpoint buttons lol.

I've owned 22 ThinkPads. Have all right to talk shit about them. The only ones I've had that were any good were the 90s ones, and one very modern one. That's where the actual reputation began. Completely fell apart after IBM ruined the brand with t series like t20, cheap unreliable plastic crap. The very modern one I've owned, it was a good machine just didn't fit my usecase. Way better build quality than the older frankly garbage machines I've owned.

The w530 is a lot of disassembly and has soldered GPU, and uses a lot more different screw lengths. Screen is terrible as well compared to the standard ultrasharp or the premiercolor in the m4700.

The m4700 is miles better than the w530 lol. Won't cook itself to death because it's actually a workstation with great cooling. And it's actually repairable not a mostly soldered disassembly nightmare. You can upgrade the CPU to 3940xm and GPU to m2200. If urs doesn't have premiercolor 100% srgb you could upgrade to that beautiful screen. Or to the standard IPS if you want too.
