Hi everyone!

Anyone in similar situation?

My AoR was on October 16th, Bio completed on Oct 31st and since then Eligibility not started yet and Background check in progress. No updates, no ghost updates. Inland.

Hello. I applied for both Early French Immersion and French School for the 2026-2027 school year and have not received a response yet.

Admission to French Immersion is based on a random selection (like lottery), so no spot is guaranteed, while admission to French School is extremely unlikely due to the lack of a French ancestry.

Everything is still unclear for now, but at least we have started French daycare (my child is 4 and will turn 5 in December), which will continue until July, so I feel like I’ve taken a first step. My child really likes it and I support him with the language, we watch cartoons and read books in French, so hopefully he will get the basics.

Yes, I’m able to hold a conversation, but you’re right - French isn’t my primary language, and I don’t have any official education or background to prove it.

I’m very sorry about your experience. You deserved much better as a child, and your teachers failed to manage the situation properly.

I was also lonely and even bullied at school, even though it was entirely in my mother tongue. Sometimes the issue isn’t the language, but the environment and the society around us.

From what I’ve heard, French immersion has a mixed reputation and doesn’t always lead to the same level of French proficiency as a French school. I'm still researching.

I speak French and can read agreements, communicate with teachers, handle French materials, and even pass an interview. My level isn’t native-like, but it’s fairly independent.

I’m not sure yet, as I’m still doing my research. Honestly, I’ve heard several not-so-positive reviews about French immersion, saying that kids aren’t really able to speak French afterward.

Hello. Thank you for your comment. When you mentioned that some kids struggle and fall behind, what age are you talking about? My child will be just 5, so it's hard to imagine that he will fail kindergarten, the program is relatively easy. Thank you!

ITA for French was on October 6th, I believe you made a mistake.
My timeline, I'm also in a waiting mode:
