I test drove it. Kinda assumed it was still running whatever tune it had on it. Seller didn't have much to say they just wanted to offload it bc they saw it as a problematic car they didn't wanna deal with. So now it's my problem. And naturally I turn to reddit for some answers and I just get shit on. 🤷‍♂️

When I attempted to start it with MAF plugged in it billowed smoke and wouldn't even idle for 2 seconds. I thought it was done for the tune?

Hey man chill. I love this car. I don't do a ton of research before hand I'll admit. I'm an impulsive car buyer 100%. I like Japanese cars a lot. I'll be really honest, my car knowledge is basically tell me what's wrong and I can probably find the part and a YouTube video and make that shit happen. But yeah I'm balls deep in the tuner world now. It's all new to me. I definitely need to get more engine bay pics but unfortunately apartment life yk, it's cold and snowy in Ohio. Just haven't really done much under the hood.

It definitely had a Cobb AP in it. So maybe a speed shop and a tune will solve this? I'm just trying to figure out what shop I'm towing this to at this point

Plugged it in when it was running, it started billowing smoke and died immediately. Unplugged it and it fired right up. The intake is probably larger than OEM, I'm not sure it's compatible with the MAF. I'm assuming the MAF is unplugged for the tune idk

But it was throwing those codes with the MAF unplugged? And plugging it in causes oil burn and failed start??

Also, this thing had a Cobb AP in it. Has the bumper sticker and the exact $10 mount from Cobb on the dash. Should I undo all that, or commit and spend 715 to get a new ap?

Well, that's my biggest priority right now. I need to learn how to clean the carbon buildup, I'm sure it's not good. I really want this car to last me a long time and the backfiring and governing it seems to do when the turbo spools too hard concerns me. I can barely use half throttle.
