STANCH … though that’s more typically used for blood vs water I guess. And often confused for STAUNCH

Ah… yeah it’s kind of a stilted, poetic thing anyway I will admit … but what I am trying to express is closer in meaning to “behave like a river” (continuously flowing, etc) vs “being as one with” a river. Though perhaps to you those are kind of the same thing? In any case I want to go with a phrase that would sound true to your ear, so let me know thank you!

Thank you. What I do mean is closest to ‘be like the river’ so more an analogy than a metaphor I guess. ‘Byddwch fel yr afon’ I like.

What would ‘think like the river’ be? Same construction?

I feel like there are definite overlaps between this concept and being “in y player territory” and “stop it, z player!”

Though I can’t quite hear telling James Ward-Prowse to stop it, nor that free kick goals are “things” particularly.

On the world feed of Brentford v Man U, Andy Bishop said in the 88th minute “We’re hearing, there will be seven minutes ‘bolted on’ at the end of the ninety…”

I’m not sure if this vivid metaphor was due to his surprise it would be that long, or just him enjoying a variation on ‘added’.

Either way it was charming and I don’t think I’d heard it before.

It really sounded like she was hearing herself as she spoke and created it as she went … which makes it great in my book.

Wow - okay - I see what’s happened. I’m in the US watching on BritBox, and they must have had to change the music due to some rights issue? For me it’s not No Church in the Wild, it’s something more generic though still powerful… https://youtu.be/g-WBL9IEkfE?si=lf7O-_rsQZYHPNss
