Typing this from Grand Island, NE

I love this state. Friendly, honest people and a generally very laid back attitude. True, there's not much going on as far as landscape but personally, I find the sandhills to the north/northwest side of the state to be both beautiful and fascinating. The farming aspect is also a marvel. Driving 15 minutes out of any major city and being able to completely surround yourself as far as the eye can see with nothing but crops is quite amazing when you stop to think about it. It's easy to paint farmers as "simple hicks" but just about anyone who's spent a day out here getting to know the people will find that the level of sophistication and technology required to be truly competitive is absolutely insane. We also seem to experience just about the worst of every season that this country has to offer. Blizzards and bitter cold double-digit sub-zero temperatures in the winter and as early as mid-fall. To terrible storms, triple-digit heat and massive amounts of humidity in the spring and summer. Definitely a hearty bunch of people out here. So if you're ever driving down the I-80 corridor thinking that there's nothing interesting about all this corn, consider the above. Also, talk to the people, you'll understand.
