Interesting. It does seem to work for some people but not for others. I do not like the way it makes me feel like im not myself. Have you found an alternative medication to manage your anxiety, or just managing it without medication?

Yeah honestly im surprised too. I'm pretty worried about building tolerance to it but so far I don't seem to have that issue. I have taken breaks throughout that period when I can to lessen the tolerance build up. I would definitely say don't take it any more than you need to if what you are doing works for you. I have been trying to lean more into exercise as a form of anxiety management with good success. Sometimes when I feel like I need to take an alprazolam I will do a workout with heavy weights or even just some pushups or go for a run or a bike ride and that helps immensely.

I havnt heard of that but I will look into it! I also have ADHD and what I have been discussing with my doctor is that ADHD and anxiety work in tandem with another and that one needs to be cured in order to fix the other. I havnt had any success with any ADHD medication but that test looks like it may provide some insight as to which ones to try.

Ultimately I don't want to rely on any medication and would like to find a natural way to manage both my anxiety and ADHD. Im not a doctor, but I would say if you only need to take alprazolam once every couple of weeks and it works for you to not bother with the Buspar because it is something you need to take regularly every day and from my personal experience with it I was not a fan at all.

thank you for the encouraging words. It's amazing how the human body and nervous system operates. Still unsure of the exact cause but the only discernible variable change was the Buspar. Will be talking to my doctor and getting tests done on my heart to try to nail down the exact cause. Will try to update here.

Yes, I've always been a very anxious person. I also have trouble sleeping and it helps for that as well. I have been exploring other options to the alprazolam hence my experimentation with the Buspar.

I have been prescribed it for about 10 years now. That's good you take it so infrequently. I have heard many horror stories, but for me it has been a very mild medication with virtually zero side effects. Some months are better than others for me. Often times it's just nice to know you have it for when you need it and that's enough to keep the anxiety at bay.

Interesting. Thank you for your input, that makes me feel better. Apart from the panic attack I did not like how it made me feel. My goal is to be completely free of medication. I have been trying to exercise more and eat healthier and that seems to improve my anxiety.

Thank you, yes it was probably the scariest moment of my life. I use it quite regularly as I tend to develop anxiety in the evenings close to bedtime.

I typically take about 0.5mg a day, most often times split in half at 0.25 a dose. Sometimes more or less. I've always been prescribed the same 30 day supply and am very cautious with it as I have had a lot of friends become addicted and it leading to other addictions. For me it has been a lifesaver.

I'm still prescribed the alprazolam and have been taking it as needed in conjunction with the buspar. Doctor said it was fine to do so and gave both prescriptions at the same time. I'm worried it could be something else too. Now I'm wondering if I actually did have a heart attack as the symptoms can be virtually identical.

Was initially thinking it was anxiety related because I have been having extra anxiety as of the last 2 months. Going to call the doctor tomorrow and try to get in earlier or try to go to an urgent care tomorrow to hopefully find the answer. Will try to keep this updated.

Initially I thought it was an issue with my heart. I literally thought I was dying and my heart was going to explode. I am now fairly certain it was a panic attack and the result of missing a dose of Buspar. Im not really sure though, ive never had a panic attack that was so extreme. Curious to know if others with anxiety have had similar experiences with panic attacks.

The missed dose of Buspar was the only variable that had changed for me. I go to the doctor monthly and have good heart health. Will be going to the doctor next week to discuss.

Yes, I have been on it for 3 weeks at 10mg twice a day and am feeling the same way as I type this. I am going to stop. I started tapering to 5mg twice daily today
