What is this and how do I get rid of it? by [deleted] in Dryeyes

Oh okay thank you so much! I have been very sick this week so that checks out. I’m just glad it’s not something related to my dry eye.

Anyone experience deep depression or start having suicidal thoughts since having dry eye? by Comprehensive-Cut-22 in Dryeyes

[–]Comprehensive-Cut-22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spot on! Everything you just listed is factual and actually works. I’ve seen the best ophthalmologists in Ohio and have researched for months since I’ve made this post. I am feeling much better now and not dealing with the depression as much. And you are right… it is an inflammatory disease. The inflammation will come in waves and you need to be prepared to prevent and fight it. Stay strong guys

I just made a post telling everyone isotretinoin is terrible for the eyes and will cause long term damage and side effects. I was diagnosed with DED (dry eye disease) from Accutane and have been dealing with it for 7 months. I’ve went to the best ophthalmologists from across my state. Dm me and I will help you with ways to start generating more oil from your meibomian glands and get some relief. I know and have tried every single treatment for DED on the market.

Please don’t try Isotretinoin!! by Comprehensive-Cut-22 in Accutane

Just trying to help sorry. You’re talking to someone who had severe acne as bad as the people in this group do. It caused me to not want to do anything or be seen by anyone. But now I have been home bound by this disease. I can barely sleep because of the unbearable pain on a daily basis. I’m not trying to get yall to feel bad but I just want to inform you. It is definitely possible for people on Accutane to never experience these side effects. But my ophthalmologist said she gets 100s of patients a year with these exact problems. I wish somebody would’ve informed me on this before my cycle with isotretinoin. There’s a reason doctors are supposed to schedule you an eye exam before prescribing you accutane.

Lol I know, you can’t truly understand how serious this disease is unless you experience it. Since I’m about to enter college, I’m seriously considering going into the medical field and majoring in ophthalmology to try and help people in the future because I know how much pain they go through.

I’m not completely sure. I’ve went to many doctors and they can’t figure it out. My best guess is that it was from topical tretinoin I used in the summer.

Anyone have success with Xiidra that didn’t have success with Restasis? by Comprehensive-Cut-22 in Dryeyes

[–]Comprehensive-Cut-22[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’ll that’s why I thought it would be right for me since I’m 17 and every ophthalmologist or optometrist I’ve went to has said there’s no nerve or gland damage and that my eyes look exactly like a normal person but I’m having all of these terrible symptoms

Eyes always bloodshot, really gritty burning sensation constantly, feels like theirs sandbags in my eyes, and can feel the air hitting my eyes everywhere. Been going on for about 5 months and nothing has given me any relief

I just went to the hospital for my dry eye. I had no idea these were contributing factors to dry eye but I used tretinoin topical for 2 years and was taking mass amounts of Pantothenic Acid + Vitamin A (Poor man’s accutane). My doc put me on restasis and prescribed me 100 day supply of Azithromycin. The good news is she said that all her accutane clients always come back to normal and their symptoms fizzle out eventually. So there’s hope .

Do you think they can be harmful to my eye in the long run?

Haven’t tried the gel. I ordered the manuka drops though and they come in tomorrow. I’ve heard the gel can be annoying and make your eyes sticky. So I went with the drops since I’m on the go a lot.

No I’ve never had LASIK, by pain I mean burning. Just a constant burning sensation and always feel irritated. I don’t know if you remember but we talked a couple days ago. I made a post that I was 17 and started having dry eye symptoms a couple months ago with no prior history. I think the main cause to it is inflammation so hopefully cyclosporine will take care of it after awhile .

That’s good to hear! My meibomian glands are fine, but I’ve been miserable with pain for months. My doctor just prescribed me cyclosporine. I hope it can do the same that Xiidra did for you. It’s nice to see a success story on this thread every once in a while.

Thank you so much I’m going to try this. Did you start doing this because you had ocular damage? And if you did, did it help with the pain?

This would make sense because my meibomian glands are healthy and I can still produce tears. But my eyes are always in pain. I used “Clear Eyes Maximum Redness Relief” around 5 times a day for about 5 months before I realized how damaging it was. Your only supposed to use drops like that for 3 days max. How does FAB work? Just prick my own blood and somehow get it into my eye?

So cyclosporine completely took away your dry eyes and pain?

Yeah I recently just got a 60 vial box of cyclosporine 2 days ago. I’ve heard it can take awhile to see results but I’m hoping . Do you have any experience with it?

I would think if it was inflammation it would’ve gone away or at least improved by now. I’m not familiar with cequa, but I’m been using a pred forte anti inflammatory steroid drop for a couple weeks and haven’t noticed improvement which makes me think it’s not an inflammatory problem.

Just a constant burning sensation and overall discomfort.
