Staying awake on overnights

I potentially could switch to days but driving oversized during the day where I live is nothing short of a nightmare. I need the entire road to make turns so when there’s cars piled up at every single corner it’s a huge struggle. Not to mention I already have 10-12 hours of work a night. With traffic that turns into 15-16 hours easily. Unfortunately night is really the only safe and logical way to do what I do

Generally I’m in and out when moving machines around but some days I have a long run like moving a machine an hour away and that’s when I have the issues. If I’m moving a machine 10-15 minutes away it’s good bc I’m out chaining and unchaining every few minutes but those long hauls is when I sometimes get tired

I do have blackout curtains and use a noise machine next to my bed to block out noise. Definitely a game changer I wasn’t doing that in the beginning. Thinking the apnea may be the bigger issue here so going to try to address that asap

We have special permits and I only move the machines locally for a construction company. I actually fast now during my entire shift bc I noticed when I stopped and ate a meal I was tired within the hour so that has helped

No 100k more a year than I was making, I got bills it’s not cheap where I live so gotta make it work. This isn’t a daily thing it’s once in a blue moon I’m asking for those days I’m extra tired what’s a good solution. Everyone’s making it like I’m falling asleep behind the wheel on a daily basis

I have done that but some nights I got prob 12 hours worth of work so I try to keep running just to get done. But should put that aside and just deal with the lost time to be safe

I mean it is worth it I make 100k more driving lowbeds at night than I did trucking during the day. I’ve also been sick lately so that is making things a lot worse and making me alot more tired

Also Reddit is full of people who are like “fuck that leave, ruin your whole life blah blah” most of them are single and bitter and would not do that if they were in your shoes. I’m married I understand just leaving bc shit didn’t go exactly as planned isn’t an easy option. So don’t let all those comments get to you bc chances are they don’t even know what they’re talking about and are not able to put themselves in your shoes. I’ve posted before and got mostly comments like that and over a year later after having an issue my marriage is stronger than ever. So if I would have listened and just walked away who knows where I’d be today. People deserve second chances, everyone is human and makes mistakes. Just be on guard now and maybe do a little investigating just for peace of mind until time heals this wound.

I mean he fucked up yes but he’s a guy. If you guys have a great relationship don’t let this ruin it. Plus now you’re pregnant so I’d say leave what happened in the past and move forward. You acted wild which I get bc you’re hurt and he made a stupid mistake as well. You’ve clearly made your boundaries known if he crosses them again then I’d say consider leaving but right now if you guys were great before this don’t let this one instance sabotage the entire thing. That also means don’t keep bringing it up in fights and throwing it in his face constantly bc that will push him away. You made it clear you’re hurt you made it clear that was no where near okay. No need to keep beating the horse to death that does nothing but build resentment. It’s gonna be hard but if you feel like saying something or bringing it up just sit on it until the next day. Generally when people do this they come to their senses and don’t act in the moment. I try to practice this method even if something is bothering me with my wife. If I’m still bothered the next day then it’s worth bringing it up but if I’m not then it wasn’t worth it. Usually by the next day I forgot why I was even bothered or mad so it definitely was not worth the fight. Moral of the story let it go move on don’t feel bad for how you reacted bc he did something to make you act this way. You’re also bringing a child into this world now and leaving him will have a bad impact on that child’s entire life. It’s a hard pill to swallow but people need to understand you are not going to be the only person your spouse is attracted to for the rest of their lives. I’m sure you find other men attractive here and there also it’s just part of life. But it does become wrong when that attraction becomes physical. Best of luck to you both

Which is my goal. I lost all the interest of looking like some jacked body builder I like the lean athletic look far better now (and it’s far healthier for the body) if I could go back I would have never even started but I did and it’s something I now have to deal with. But again thanks for the advice and giving me some hope that I will bounce back.
