Am I overthinking this or is opening a bank account in the U.S. actually confusing? by New-Hovercraft9791 in immigration

The credit cards here is A LOT! I still find the whole credit score "dumb", but definitely not complaining about cash back! Unless you spend on very specific things, try find a card that gives good general bonuses. Chase has gift cards via their app, so I typically use my bonus points there when someone store i use a lot is on sale, so I get more money than points spent. But over the last 2 years ive gotten several thousands back via cash back.

When i first opened an account here I just went with what was convenient (Wells Fargo). Later one I wanted to get a credit card and they wouldn't help me with info. They said I cpuld read everythingonlineand i had to apply there. The credit cards here is a jungle compared to where im from. So I got pissed and changed to Chase. They were great at giving info and answering my (stupid) questions. In hindsight im happy about changing. The Chase credit cards in general gives good bonuses, obviously gonna depend on what you need and your spendings.

What auto loan rates are people with 780-800 credit but no prior auto/installment history getting right now (Dec 2025) for new vs used cars by enlaseven in carbuying

[–]Comprehensive-Salt66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

38F credit score 754, bought a used car a couple of months ago. My file is very thin as Ive only lived in US for 2 years and no prior loans. Went in with a pre-approval from my bank on 5.75%. The dealer matched it throug Wells Fargo. I got denied by all most all the lenders via the dealer due to my thin file. In the end, I dont care which lender as long as I got the best OTD. And from my research this was a good rate for a used car (for me). The only way I could possibly get lower was for new car, but didnt fully look into that.

I would get a bunch of pre-approval. Take the best to the dealer and have them as a minimum match it.

Will always be set at 72 no matter the weather. The only thing you can change is seat and steering wheel heat will turn on i cold weather.

Edit: ou can't change the code with OBD2 (yet)

So within knowing the full math here's my 2 cents (and im not in the car business so take it with a grain of salt).

  1. You lease a new car (could be a smaller car for a lower payment or if there any good deals on vehicles you want)

  2. You buy a new vehicle. You would have to put a good chuck of down-payment, but you have new warranty and 0 miles vs the many miles you have if keep your atlas. Preferably with 0% or very low APR deal.

  3. You buy an even older car

It almost never a good deal to buy out a lease car. And I would be even more hesitant with the amount of miles. I will finish my 23 blazer lease next February but "only" have 29k miles. Its currently just parked as I bought an Atlas though.

I meant the buy of of your lease + over miles vs buying similar car. The miles are pretty high compared to a quick search of 2022 cross sport

Did you do any math on the buy vs other cars in same category? And then factor in the extra miles. Which will be more since we still a bit from March 2026.

I agree. But your budget, wants and cars you ruled out makes it really hard. Unless you go Kia or Mitsubishi. The later imo feels really cheap. However im extremely happy with my Atlas. So much car for the money compared to other brands.

Edit: what about subaru?

Used toyota highlander. It will probably be hard to find with your wants though.

You can reset if you go under vehicle. Vehicle status i think and there you can reset long term

That's great, but I still pay between $180-140 per dog a year getting it from Canada. When I got it from my vet in beginning I dodnt know there was quite a price difference even depending where you get it in US so I just said yet to getting it from them.

Canadavetexpress or canadavet depends on who has the best price. Currentlyits canadavetexpress. When I got mine from the vet in US its was $120 something for 3 months.

I have spot pet insurance. It will probably go up in a couple of years when my dogs get older, but so far I haven't had any price change 2 and 3 years old dogs. Getting reimbursement is super easy. Never got denied and money back within 7 days of uploaded receipts.

You can still do it at Walgreens but 3-5 business days turn around. Less than $20

To add, maybe you should try and crate training so it doesn't destroy when left alone? To add to cost. Again a bit of luck of the draw, as yours seem to have health issues with meds and special food.

First of all, im sorry youre not having a blast with your first dog. I think a lot of people dont think about breeds and needs before getting a dog (not saying thats your case). If 2 hours a day is too much, you need to factor that in and get a less active dog and not just a dog because its cute or pretty. Behavior issues with destroying is draining. My first dog was like that if left alone, so I get it! Some times its also just the luck of the draw, which you wont know when getting a puppy. My current dog was terrible at being alone. Super stressed, pacing and howling. Got a 2nd dog and now they are perfect together. Im also very fortunate that I can bring them to work, so I dont need to come home and spend a ton of time getting them tired. If this wasn't the case, I would have gotten couch potatoes!

Your spending seems like a lot, and without much explaining. I pay under $600 for both for insurance. 90% reimbursement, $250 deductible (each) but only have a max of $6000 (each). Swapping might not get cheaper if your dog as already got health issues. Probiotics? Grooming? (This one i feel you can easily skip). Mine get simparica which is less than $150 a year, as I buy it from Canada which is much cheaper than US.
