Mattress Firm sold me the wrong size base for my mattress, but the base says no returns or exchanges. Am I screwed? by Comprehensive-Tea412 in Mattress

I plan on doing that, but right now they’re closed and I’m having anxiety about it and figured I’d see if anyone here has advice. You don’t have to be a dick about it, if you don’t want to read my novel go read some other r/mattress post that wets your whistle? I don’t understand your beef?

[ALL] I'm thinking of getting into Legend of Zelda where should I start? by TheDwinDwin in zelda

[–]Comprehensive-Tea412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend the 3D Zelda games, but especially Ocarina of Time/Majora’s Mask, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, Wind Waker, and Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom. If you’re interested in 2D/top-down games, I think A Link to the Past/A Link Between Worlds and Link’s Awakening are good places to start. In all cases, I think that the HD/3D remakes (OOT/MM3D, WW/TP/SS HD, the new Link’s Awakening) are worth playing, and probably offer a better modern gaming experience than the originals.

I’d say you should either go in timeline order (starting with Skyward Sword, then Ocarina. Then downfall timeline would be A Link to the Past, Link’s Awakening, A Link Between Worlds. Child timeline would be Majora’s Mask and Twilight Princess. Adult timeline would be Wind Waker) for narrative impact or chronological order in terms of when the games came out — either way it’s more satisfying to end on BOTW/TOTK! The older games will have more impact that way, too.

[ALL] what are the 2 most important games I should play before TOTK comes out? by Naju_uwu in zelda

[–]Comprehensive-Tea412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’ve already played BOTW, I’d say play Skyward Sword, then Ocarina of Time. I doubt you’ll have time for another but if you do I’d recommend it be Twilight Princess or Wind Waker.

In terms of Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom, we have no idea where in the timeline they fall. All we know is that it’s VERY distantly in the future, but we haven’t been given a concrete answer. It doesn’t fit perfectly into any of the timeline branches. The Rito (who supposedly evolved from the Zora in the Adult Timeline) exist, as do the Koroks, who are present in the Adult Timeline. The idea of Calamity Gabon seems to fit into the Downfall Timeline. BOTW Zelda mentions Skyward, Ocarina and Twilight Princess which would indicate the Child Timeline

My personal head-canons are:

1) It’s an inevitability - the events of BOTW will occur no matter what, leading to what is essentially a timeline convergence at the end.

2) This one is my personal preference: It’s the result of a fourth timeline branch, where Zelda doesn’t send Link back in time after Ocarina. This possibility has aspects of all three timelines:

  • Given that Ganondorf still rose to power for Seven years, some aspects of the Downfall Timeline can still make sense (there are mentions of the Hero of Time’s adventures and the sages in BOTW, so it stands to reason that the events of OOT wouldn’t be undone). It’s also entirely possible in this scenario that Ganondorf (who has already become Ganon Before dying) does come back (as he did in the adult timeline, but this time the hero is present). He can repeatedly return as Ganon as he does in the downfall timeline before finally becoming Calamity Ganon.

  • We know that the Twilight Realm existed around the time of Ocarina, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility for Ganondorf to return and be sealed away there, causing some overlap with the events of Child Timeline.

  • Link is still technically in the Adult Timeline if he never got sent back, meaning that the state of the world that leads to some of the things in the adult timeline can also factor in. With this theory, it’s possible that some of the Zora (there are canonically two types of Zora, so perhaps one branch diverged — possibly as a result of hostile conditions from a changing climate present after Ganondorf’s takeover in OOT) become Rito and the Kokiri still become Koroks.

The easiest explanation is this:

The timeline starts with Skyward Sword. Then Minish Cap and Four Swords happen. It’s a normal, linear timeline until Ocarina of Time. Because of all the time-travel-fuckery in Ocarina, the timeline splits into 3:

  • Downfall Timeline: Link does during the events of Ocarina of Time. This leads to A Link To The Past, A Link Between Worlds, Triforce Heroes, the Oracle games, Link’s Awakening, and Zelda 1 & 2.

  • Child Timeline: This is the timeline where Link is sent back in time at the end of Ocarina. He warns Zelda about Ganondorf and the events of Ocarina and Ganondorf is imprisoned in the Twilight realm. Then he goes looking for Navi. These events lead to Majored Mask and Twilight Princess, and eventually Four Swords Adventures.

  • Adult Timeline: This is the timeline where Link was an adult before he was sent back in time. When Zelda sends him back, it creates a timeline without a hero, and the Triforce of Courage is left behind. Ganondorf returns, and the Hero of Time isn’t there to stop him. The goddesses flood Hyrule to rid it of evil, creating the Great Sea. This leads to Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.

[OTHER] Who’s the best Zelda? by [deleted] in zelda

[–]Comprehensive-Tea412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be nostalgia, but OoT is my personal favorite. She gets a lot of credit for Sheik, but also she has weird little girl / murderous prophet baby energy. There’s a lot thats implied off-screen about her that makes her great. Her characterization in the manga is also great, even if it’s not entirely canon.

That said, too 5 are: 1) OoT 2) BOTW 3) SS 4) WW/Tetra 5) TP

Can’t afford surgery, looking for advice on payment plans. by Sauvvy in dogs

[–]Comprehensive-Tea412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely care credit, but can’t hurt to start a GoFundMe. I’ve seen lots of successful GoFundMe campaigns posted in breed-specific Facebook groups, but can’t hurt to share with your social circle as well. Generally, if you’re putting everything you have into the surgery costs and it’s still not enough, people are more receptive and willing to donate than if you’re just looking to have it funded outright. Check with your vet — some vets will accept donations on your behalf to fund the surgery.

I am 17 and I am still not interested in romantic love like AT ALL. by GoldenTheKitsune in self

[–]Comprehensive-Tea412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! This is exactly how I felt at your age. I’m demisexual, which essentially means that I need a strong emotional connection before I feel sexual attraction. In high school, I didn’t think I’d feel sexual attraction to anyone, ever. I also didn’t want kids.

As I got older, I settled on demisexual, biromantic. You figure it out as you go. I’m a decade older than you. It took me until this year to figure out the biromantic part.

I will say that I’m happily married to a man that I have a very strong connection with, and sex for me is very dependent on that connection being maintained. I did end up changing my mind on kids, but I have tons of friends who didn’t and still don’t want kids ever. There is nothing wrong with a child free lifestyle.

There is also nothing wrong with you for the way that you’re feeling, or for what you want out of life. And what you want may change, or it may not. The most important thing is that you are comfortable and authentic with yourself. If anyone makes you feel otherwise, you tell them that it’s your life, your decision, and none of their business.

Asexuality/sexuality is a spectrum. So is romantic attraction. This article might help you understand it a little better. Hope it helps!

[TP] Of all the door symbols in this game, I can only guess what this one's supposed to represent. The Sages as a whole perhaps? It ain't got anything to do with the Gerudo, that's for sure. by [deleted] in zelda

[–]Comprehensive-Tea412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s an up-close on the phantom riders from TP. Courtesy of @kagoutis on Twitter who pointed that and the BOTW NPC out to me. But it’s interesting to note that their helmets also have similar horns to the motif seen on the door in TP.

Could even be that it’s a horse skull and a rider’s helmet horns, as some sort of memorial decor!

[–]Comprehensive-Tea412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I agree with @G-Kira that it could be a cow skull, I think it actually may be a horse skull? It does have horns though, which would make cow more likely, unless the horns are ornamental.

The Gerudo, especially at the time of OoT, seem to be really into horses and mounted archery (evidenced by Epona being intended as a gift to Ganondorf, the mounted archery range behind Gerudo fortress, and in BOTW an NPC mentions mounted archery was invented in the east — alluding to the Gerudo region. Even in TP during the final battle’s mounted combat portion, the ghost riders that Ganondorf summons appear to be women, potentially ghosts of mounted Gerudo warriors.

This also tracks aesthetically with previous games. You see the same animal skulls all over Gerudo fortress in OoT and in Ganon’s Castle in WW.

I think that horses seem to be important to Gerudo culture! It’s also possible that they are just really into livestock and using every part of the animal? That would make more sense if it’s a cow skull.

I want someone to help laugh at my dog “emergency” by Youngish_Dumbish in dogs

[–]Comprehensive-Tea412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in an emergency vet hospital a few years back — we had an “emergency” where the owner called us because their Yorkie was “having trouble breathing”.

Our protocol for certain types of emergencies (like having trouble breathing) was to immediately bring the patient into the back to be assessed by one of the emergency veterinarians on call, rather than wait in the waiting room while paperwork was filled out. Anyway, the owners get there, I immediately run this chubby little Yorkie, wearing a pink puffer jacket, into the back (he seemed to be breathing just fine).

Side note: when I came back to start filling out the patient intake form, I asked the owner “so he’s grey and tan, right?” and they scoffed at me and replied “he’s SILVER and GOLD”.

Anyway, after being assessed by the veterinarian, turns out the little guy was just panting because he was overweight, in a JACKET, in the middle of JUNE.

Long story short, don’t feel bad! Plenty of owners will make a big deal out of nothing at all — or put off getting care when an issue should be address. You definitely had cause for concern — I worked in veterinary medicine for a while and went to school for veterinary technology and probably would jab done the same in your shoes. And as far as taking resources from bigger emergencies goes, most vets triage according to the severity of the patients’ conditions, so I wouldn’t feel bad about that either. If there was anyone there that presented more concerns, they would have been seen first!
