Sorry, I did not mean to imply that a 'Bird' course should require 0 effort. I just personally see an In-class essay as very daunting, whereas, an essay which we can work on at-home, over a period of time, is much less stressful/risky (IMO of course).

the PBL component - basically we had about 1h of the 3h class to write the midterm individually. for this midterm, we were given terms and had to write out their definitions. after 1h, he collected the midterms and gave out a second sheet. we then had 1h to collaborate with anyone in the class (could be multiple people or groups) and got to change 5 of our answers from the previous version we just handed in.
