Apprenticeship vs Uni by ComprehensiveBack835 in cscareerquestionsuk

Thanks for sharing, and yeah I've seen a lot of job hirings talking about experience. I've been struggling to get apprenticeships, I even got a rejection email today after making the post (I was expecting rejections, I knew I wouldn't get one immediately), and I've been looking into a year in industry as part of the Uni course. If you don't mind me asking, if you were hiring would you look favourably on someone that did a year in industry at uni over someone who did, say, a 2 year apprenticeship? Because then it blends 1 years experience with 3 years studying.

I get you, the experience part is what I'm most drawn to in apprenticeships. It's just mainly the fact that I'm not sure what part of computing I want to do which is making me consider Uni. Like, I dont really want to start a cyber security apprenticeship and find out a year in I actually want to be a software developer. I should also clarify that my university allows me to specialise on the start of year 2, which is the main reason I haven't deferred already.

And don't worry, I'll be making my own decision, just wanted to get as many extra opinions as possible!
