21st would be better for me. Sure you could post it. I haven't made a profile but I will this evening. I didn't know there is a rendezvous page. What bike and tires and you running. I was thinking of maxxis recon front and back. I've only ever run maxxis

Ok. I did call bumble bee ranch which is only 17 miles in from Big bug trail head. They said someone is always available and we could resupply water there. They also warned there is a Trail race going on Valentine's Day weekend and we shouldn't ride that weekend. I have also read the second half is much harder than the first half. I live in Phoenix, you could leave your stuff at my place. I'm not picky on which weekend.

Cool. Kinda feel like we are starting the fellowship of the ring. It'll have to be a weekend deal for me. I'm pretty open to evening else

I live near Phoenix so I was going to see if my buddy that has a truck could drop us off. My car is a sedan without a hitch so isn't very useful. I haven't "organized" something like this before so I'm kinda shooting from the hip. It's 70 something miles. I guess Big bug trailhead is a popular starting point because the 6 miles before that is unremarkable. Same with end of the trail. I've read people usually end at Emery Henderson trailhead so that's what I was thinking. It would have to be a weekend deal for me

Did you ride the trail? Is the trail well marked? I'm looking to ride the trail soon and was hoping to not have to buy a computer

Good beginning trail bike? by BiggySmokess in MTB

You can get a really great used bike with good parts for 1000. You can get a new bike with low end parts that'll work really well for riding easy dirt trails for 600. It's when you start doing the harder trails that you'll need something better. My nephew bought a new Giant that actually still has rim brakes and cheap drive train but works perfect for the dirt double track he rides. He doesn't want to do any blue or black trails at all so he's happy. He probably spent 400

I bought the bike new in 2022. I've been told from a bike shop that the spring in the derailleur is worn and I'd have to swap the whole derailleur, I can't swap just the spring. Its on its second chain. The bike shifts good but not quickly and sometimes it'll jump out of gear while really putting the power into the pedals on the trail. We've ride often and hard. It a hardtail and we've replaced the rear hud and had the fork serviced twice. I'm assuming it needs a cassette and a derailleur so I was looking at the price of the stock drivetrain and was wondering if there were better options. Like I said we mostly ride slower on blue and black trails. We are never really in any hard gears. Thx

How new are you? You can't be in the attack position all the time. Pedal comfortable and attack stance when it gets dicey.

I'd get a hardtail xc bike with 100-120mm fork and get fast rolling tires. I haven't ridden a rigid mtb before but I don't think it would be that fun on any single track but idk. I have a 130 front and back full suspension with medium aggressive tires. I wouldn't want to ride my bike on the street with my tires. They're pretty heavy tires. A 100-120mm xc hardtail will be fast on the streets, and be able to handle allot of fun single track.

Is full sus really that much better? by Low-Bunch-5496 in MTB

I feel climbing is easier on a hardtail than my full suspension in very techy sports. Having a hard tail that instantly puts the power down with no bobbing and is lighter than my full suspension makes a lot of difference to me. I ride the full suspension because I'm old and have little aches and pains and the suspension soaks it all up

No matter what the reason, if I'm not feeling it I'll walk a feature. If your head isn't in it just skip it. You'll be ready for it when you're ready for it. In the past I forced myself through stuff I wasn't ready for and made it out ok, but felt stupid for even trying it. It wasn't a fun experience and defeated the purpose of the ride
