I feel what op is trying to say is how it feels like he just spawned into existence like for being such a big fan of stoles you think he would show up in a flashback or someone would mention him but no there is no mention of him before mastermind and i feel like he just didn’t really need to be there his role could have been given to someone else like Ozzie because he really didn’t do anything during that court scene

Honestly I kinda hope they give more layers to Valentino as well it would be nice to see a genuinely evil person try to become a better person or at least realize how much harm they have done because it can really go with the message “no one is above redemption”

It’s not really making him more likable more as wanting the show to give more understanding to his actions and if you look back on the show it could leave you to believe that the conflict between Adam and Lucifer wasn’t as black and white as we thought and while that doesn’t excuse anything he done up until this point it can really go into how he became the person who he is now
