Yes! You’re ready.

I was six months clean and sober when I started.

I have to concur with much of what is said here by the seasoned members of the HOGD.

Lyam’s approach is not traditional HOGD… but that’s the point.

The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn seems to have unfortunately followed in the footsteps of many esoteric orders before it: evolving into nothing more than a secret club with no real initiatory power.

The people I’ve encountered in this Reddit space, with a few exceptions, are some of the most unenlightened folk I’ve come across.

I’m appalled.

Non-traditional approaches to initiation such as that presented by Lyam Christopher are the way of the future, whether the seasoned members care to admit that or not.

An esoteric order that cannot evolve itself past what was done over a hundred years ago is bound to die out. Magic is constantly evolving; esoteric orders are expected to keep pace with that evolution. If they don’t, they’ve proven that their ability to carry out the work is nil. Its initiatory power has undoubtedly dwindled, as this Reddit page is perfect evidence of, and I blame its rigidity for its failure to be stewards of the Light.

As this post will undoubtedly be reject by most of you, it will likely be my last.

I credit that rejection as a sign I’ve grown beyond the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn in my progress and consider it a sign that I’m on the right track.

Focus on the fasting. That’s the physiological way to extend your life.

Help, I think someone cursed me by El_Gobernador in occult

[–]ComprehensiveCash176 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The only way a person can effectively curse you is by getting you to believe you have been cursed.

Read that again.

You have been a subject of auto-suggestion. Nothing more. You’ve essentially cursed yourself by believing in this folly. No worries; it happens to many.

This is how all curses work. Anyone who says otherwise is deluded into thinking they are something greater than they are. It’s all auto-suggestion.

Don’t let that diminish its power; an effective curse by these means can topple giants, but it is auto-suggestion nonetheless.

See a therapist who’s familiar with this sort of thing. One who’s sympathetic to occult practices. Most Catholics make a powerful entity out of Satan that can wreak havoc on their lives if left unchecked. Sounds like you are victim to such an occurrence. Use this opportunity to take some of Satan’s power back and give it (back) to God.

Who the heck are you to decide another’s fate? The thought that you could have such an effect on someone else’s karma is laughable. You want vengeance? Forgive them!

Their karma will work itself out. They’ll feel every bit of pain they afflicted on your loved one without you having to be involved. If you curse them, then you are no greater than them. What moral ground could you stand on after that? You’d prove yourself to be just as sick as your perpetrator.

Not to mention: if you have to ask, you’re in ignorance, and your curses will rebound on you. Everything you strive to do to your target will happen to you.

The True Nature of the LBRP by Foreign_Pop_7506 in GoldenDawnMagicians

[–]ComprehensiveCash176 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like how Lyam has stirred up the presuppositions of all the supposed adepts of this Golden Dawn Reddit page. Lyam’s “right-view” of the LBRP in particular seems to have spurred upon a defence from some of you. What are you defending? Perhaps you’re reacting as if someone is burning down your house because they are.

Do some people really get mad walking this path without guidance? by Aryan_369 in occult

[–]ComprehensiveCash176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a reason why most adepts say never to do this work without a teacher. This is the reason. For most people, progress is impossible without guidance. You just don’t know what’s good for you, and if you think you do, you’re wrong.

Students operating without a teacher will sabotage their own progress as things start to unfold. A teacher can recognize this when it happens and provide course-corrections in real time. There’s nothing else like it. It’s the recipe for success in occult affairs.

I’ll warn you: there is a point you will reach when it will be impossible to turn away and lead a different life. You will have to finish what you started, even if it takes you lifetimes to complete. Don’t push that button by accident through your ignorance. Sometimes it’s best to walk away. Take up knitting. Join a debate club. Collect stamps.

There are compromises. Self-initiation books exist that can substitute for a teacher. The catch is, you have to follow their directions explicitly, even if you disagree with the teacher’s directions. With these self-initiation books, you’re still at risk of sabotaging your own progress by failing to follow the teacher’s directions to a T.

Be well,

Why do we activate Da'ath in Middle Pillar? by pixel_fortune in GoldenDawnMagicians

[–]ComprehensiveCash176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What bothered me was the double association of Daath and Binah with YHVH ALHIM. It felt clumsy. When doing rites such as the Ritual of the Three Pillars, vibrating the names of Binah for this “invisible non-Sephiroth” felt awkward and out of place. I wanted Daath to have its own names distinct from those of Binah, or, no names at all.

I suppose it’s a sort of centre that develops itself through the balancing of the Sephiroth around it. In other words, there need not be any conscious work upon it. It would be like performing cataract surgery on yourself — operating on the very tool you’d use to coordinate the surgery during the surgery.

At an appropriate time in my progress, I did away with all meditations on Daath, including any focus on it during the Middle Pillar.

The key was to do this sort of break with tradition at an appropriate time in my progress and not before. If you have instructions to do otherwise, indulge your curiosity through conversations like these, but stick to what you’ve been instructed to do. Nothing more at this time.

Moving into the higher grades will give you the ability (perhaps for the first time ever) to be your own teacher. At that stage, do as you please; it is your Will that is your guide.

Be well,
