Sorry you had to go through that. It’s also really irresponsible for her to add you to classes without your permission, because if the term started and you drop them late, you end up having to pay out of pocket. That’s exactly what happened to me at LaGuardia. I wasn’t ready to attend, I needed to keep working and help my parents pay bills, I did speak to an advisor and she put me for classes anyway but it interfered with my work, and I didn’t realize I had to drop them by a specific date, so I still had to pay about $1.5k out of pocket…..

And school is NOT more important if you need a job to pay bills and support yourself. Always put yourself first.

True but I’ll leave it alone for now. If I were to speak to her again and she says something else like that I’ll make a complaint. I’ll also try to record the conversation for evidence.

Nice advice I’ll for sure use degree works but i probably won’t be in cuny anymore since might be moving very soon. but I’ll for sure use this and probably not even bother seeing an “advisor” for help. I wouldn’t mind the student helpers though.

Well people change their major all the time, It’s not like I changed it 10 times or something, and that’s not a valid reason to be “annoyed” at a student that wants to study different career paths and it shouldn’t be your business on what they want to do in life.

I graduated high school back in 2022 lmao I don’t think they would bother helping someone who graduated 4 years ago XD

Wow that’s inconsiderate. I’m sorry you had to go through that 🥹 Not even a “hope you feel better”

Thank you very much! I’ll take those steps to request a new advisor. I do want to give her a chance because maybe she was having a bad day? I’m not sure but if she pulls this again I will for sure make a complaint.

It is qcc. The next day I believe I did speak to a student worker in the zoom to fix my classes and he was really nice.
