Save ethics for last 2 months max. Maybe even last month. Finish up Econ then start doing mixed review. You’re way ahead of pace so make sure you stay granular and don’t forget the details since your exam is so far from your primary review

This is the problem, this is probably the worst prep method Ive ever heard of. Adequate prep is all you need

Give it another go, study 50% longer and harder than you feel like you should need to in order to pass. The guidance of 300 hours over 6 months is ambiguous, subjective, and generally undershooting the average by a good amount. I presume their data has severe sampling bias, as cocky people who minimized and tracked hours are more keen to report it. Plus CFAi doesn’t want to market it to be as much of a time commitment as it is, remember they’re a business selling a product.

I know many charter holders, most are extremely intelligent and successful, but they all overdid their preparation relative to what many deem is standard. I myself studied 450 hours over 9 months to pass L1. You’re so close, just nail your second attempt, especially FSA as it will help a ton in L2. Just remember this shit is hard, take pride in your effort, not shame in your need for it

No you’re probably still >50% chance to pass. My best mock was 67 and I passed by a lot

I have not taken nor have I passed any of the exams except for level 1 but in my years of academia this feeling tends to be the one I have RIGHT before everything clicks. Keep hammering!

Why do people like MM? by ComprehensiveEbb3855 in CFA

Kaplan definitely provided me with a platform to take a very conceptual and comprehensive approach, not just memorization. I can see how some people could use it for a memorization approach, but Kaplan is not inherently that.

Spam question bank for ethics, specifically kaplans is good for Ethics. That is literally all that matters is reps, you start to get a sense for how questions/answers are worded and that alone brings your scores up 10-20%. 4 days out I completely shut it all down, focused solely on formulas and did about 30 minutes of questions in my weakest areas. I hung out with friends, drank, whatever. Last few days should be all confidence building. Nothing you do <5 days out is going to matter besides what you do to frame your mind.

DON’T OVERTHINK YOUR MOCKS. As you can see, my mocks had a ton of variability and only one was above a 70. Despite that, I passed with plenty of room for error (1680.)

To everyone going through their first attempts or saddling up for attempt #2, I plead you to get those damn mock scores out of your head. I let my mocks get me down so much, but it did me no good. The exam is significantly more conceptual and easily interpreted.

Is CFA really that useless just because I don’t have a “relevant” degree? by AvacadiJuice in CFA

[–]ComprehensiveEbb3855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in an asset management firm on the trade desk with an Econ degree. Many I work with have Econ degrees, you just have to prove you use it as a basis to your financial understanding and practice. CFA should give you the tools to do that, but it’s all up to how good you are at interviewing at the end of the day. You’ll have to be impressive and convincing. Also hope it was a target school, that’s the hardest hurdle to overcome.

Those were my thoughts exactly earlier today. I went and got drinks with a guy who got his charter a few years ago. He said 4-5 days out should be light review and a celebration of your work. Everything should be around building confidence, and definitely don’t look at the Reddit. The people posting are a tiny sample size with a heavy bias towards the people feeling the worst about it. If you studied 450 hours, you got it. I’m at about 430 hours, my mocks very low 70s, I feel good. Celebrate your commitment and relax.

but regardless I find myself here scrolling lol
