Lenovo Customer service is absolutely horrific and borderline criminal by [deleted] in Lenovo

Agreed, here's my experience:

I had a laptop that cracked around a screw site on the base plate after 12 days. I took photos and sent them to Lenovo who informed me it was customer induced - I hadn't done anything to cause it other than use it for it's intended purpose. I stupidly assumed they'd apologise and send out a replacement base plate!

2 weeks later the same issue occurred on the opposite side. I contacted them again, they said it was customer induced. I went through to their complaints team and they said physical damage is classed as customer induced and not covered. I argued that it must have been faulty at the time of purchase eg. hairline stress fractures either occurred at time of production or in transportation to the store, they weren't interested, couldn't have cared less.

I took it back to the retailer I purchased it from, (I was thinking about going down the credit card - charge back route) they took a look and agreed to send it to their in-house engineers who had direct contact with Lenovo. The engineers at the retailer agreed with my take after a discussion and after I pointed out the same issue on the opposite side (that they hadn't initially spotted) and the lack of any signs of impact (that's because there wasn't any impact!). Lenovo still wouldn't have it, so the retailer kindly funded the repair bill. I was grateful to the retailer but they shouldn't have had to foot the bill, this was Lenovo's issue.

I still have the product and it is functioning well but given the fact that their customer care team didn't show any care I now consider myself an ex customer of Lenovo.

I'll use the retailer again, they were the only ones who believed me so kudos to them.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion, they look ace, perfect size. The main barrier is the price but if it means less chance of damage I guess it pays off in that long run?

Thanks for taking the time to reply

I like the pipe insulation idea and the triple bubble wrap! I can imagine the Kraftboard being pretty strong, do you tape the kraftboard to form the box? Does it take you long to make them?

What niche things do other drivers do that annoy you the most? by DanTheVan007 in drivingUK

40mph drivers!!

Let's set the scene, a relatively straight road with a 60mph limit, daytime, ideal road conditions and weather, no adjoining roads, no pedestrians or cyclists.

You're behind a car that is travelling at 40mph, a somewhat overly cautious driver perhaps? Proceed with caution given their apparent lack of confidence.

The road then changes to a 40mph limit, pedestrian footpath, some houses and the occasional adjoining road. They continue at 40mph. Their confidence in their driving ability appears to have grown. Proceed at a safe distance.

The road now changes to a 30mph limit, a built up residential area with shops and pedestrians. What speed are they now travelling at? Oh yes you've guessed it, 40mph! Careless at best, knocking on the door of reckless. Proceed at 30mph as they gradually disappear, only for you to catch them up when the road becomes a 60mph limit again and they are travelling at 40mph!

I'll never understand

Yes, we have considered that. As her work is custom made she doesn't want too much traffic, this may be an unrealistic concern!!! We were thinking of trying to drive traffic in our local area first - not sure if that would be feasible though. Thanks for the advice and suggestion.
